I thought i was doing so good with my weightloss. I;ve been working at it since last august. At easter I had lost 18 pounds since August...AS of today however i found out i was slacking off and i regained 10 of those. AND what really made me mad was...regaining them they all seemed to go to my waist and butt...even though im still 8 pounds lighter than when i started my clothes that fit me last summer...well the shorts are all a smidge too tight at the waist and thighs. What a disappointment. Have you ever lost weight regained some and found out clothes that fit when you were heavier than you are currently fit looser when you weighed more??? I guess im gonna have to hop back on that wagon and try a bit harder.

If you were able to get it off the first time I think you'll be able to do so again. I'm working on getting back down to a "manageable" weight, it's just a very slow process.

I'm trying again - my first day back at tryin didnt go so hot (see above post!) but i did exercise - i walked 2 miles trying to catch my horse then a friend and i went on an hour long horseback ride. My thigh muscles hurt! I'm gonna take a healthy lunch tomorrow to work and NOT take any sort of cash-like-money where i can go "neh i dont want that im just gonna run out and get this instead." Hopefully that helps (should help my bank account too!)

I feel your pain. I lost 12 pounds a few months back with a diet change. I felt so great, but now today as I sit I have gained half of it back. I am still lower then I was but I am losing ground on the progress I made. I am working out with my hubby tonight. He is helping keep me motivated. It really has helped to have someone to answer to. He is really into it and I dont feel up to it but he gently nudges me to workout with him. Whew, I hope it works this time. I want the energy I used to have before I put on this weight. Good luck on your wagon. I have been there a few times and is hard to realize that the weight you lost is comming back. Come back here and tell us how it is going and help keep us motivated.

As much as i find its nice that my boyfriend tells me i'm "perfect the way you are" it buggs me because i know i need to loose wieght and i dont feel hes all that supportive of the effort. I'll be sure to keep ya up to date. Good luck with yours too!

I have not weighed in a week or so. I am finding that I cannot get some of my clothes on that I wore last year. I have gone up and down a lot for the last year. I just went a bought a YMCA membership. My insurance at work will reimburse some of the cost. Yay.

I go up and down too it seems. I am trying though. I especially want some of the summer clothes to fit! Its awesome that insurance will cover some of the YMCA membership.

I've struggled with weight a lot recently. It's really hard to maintain and keep weight off once you make progress. Everyone says you have to change yourlifestyle to keep the weight off, but its so much easier said than done.

I agree that changing your lifestyle IS easier said than done. Its easier to critize from the outside than it is to be the one doing certain things. I've been really trying this week - its nice at work because my co-worker and boss are trying too and i say oh im going for snackage want something and they say what you going for and i say such n such and one of them hides my keys if it isnt healthy...and if i come back with something bad they tend to hide it on me.

i have the opposite problem.. when i was having health problems and got deathly skinny i would think i was gaining weight and some clothes would get tight just to find out i lost more or lost what i had just gained! when i was over weight it seemed that i wouldnt lose any weight yet my clothes would get looser.. i swear its a mystery sometimes!

It's very confusing. I can see the gaining weight and clothes getting looser because you gain muscle and loose fat...but the other way around just seems baffling.

Hey saundyl! Don't feel so bad! I am pretty upset myself! I have a habit of losing and then gaining and going back and forth and up and down! And now I have gained again and am very upset about it because I am no good at dieting at all! I started eating again and now I can't stop! I go from one extreme to another! Either I am not eating or am overeating! There is never a medium with me and I just can't stay on a diet! So I am now upset with my weight gain and don't know what to do about it! And of course now it is summer and the wrong time of year to have to deal with the weight gain because there is no way to hide it! And I also gain it ALL in the middle as most women do!

I seem to gain all mine in the middle too...or get super flabby arms! I'm not good at dieting. The minute i say im going to be good and eat healthy is the minute im suddenly craving those yummy chocolate cupcakes or bite sized brownies. And then i give into the craving and oups did i just eat 5 mini brownies? I stopped writing in my book what i was eating...from about easter til last thursday - im sure thats why i gained almost all i lost between christmas and easter back was cause i wasnt behaving. I started again and i feel VERY guilty about today tomorrows gonna be a salad for lunch day! I hope your attempt goes better than mine did today (i actually sat and consumed 2 bags of chips before lunch and then ate a buncha mini cupcakes sometime before supper)

Sandy, I have found that if I go on a diet I usually lose the weight, stop the diet and do the yo-yo thing. Since Feb. 4th, 2009, I decided instead of a diet I would make small changes to the foods I was eating and consider them as perminate changes. I have also set up an exercise regiment, six days a week. Workout with weights for 30 to 40 mins everyother day three days a week, and running everyother day for 30 min. I am up to 2&1/2 miles as of today, and have lost 17 lbs, about 1.5 lbs per week. Every two weeks I change my workout, its more like a circuit training thing now. I also walk for 30 mins., after my large dinner meal and have started eating three small meals a day, and three snacks (200 to 300 colories). Small changes over time in our diets change our concept of dieting which by itself seems like depriving yourself of foods you like over a set period of time. But if you make small changes and incorporate them into your life style as perminate you'll lose weight, and be able to maintain it. I also keep adjusting my meals and snacks and workouts to keep it interesting and to keep from getting stuck and stop losing weight. Good Luck and just keep on trying no matter what set-backs you have, you will reach and maintain your goals.

I was doing very well at eating breakfast before i left for work for well over 6 months and eating proper foods rather than snacking all the time- then right after Easter somehow i just..fell off the good wagon and got "Slack" i started stopping at a&w for bacon and egger in the morning and not always remembering to pack a lunch...i noticed this the last week...i also noticed it costs me more lately cause im doing that. So back o the good wagon im going.

Aww...that's really a shame. I hope you can make your goals again! It's always so frustrating when you lose and get excited about it and then put it back on. I know exactly how you feel, though. Last year about this time I was so much more active and trying to lose weight and I finally went from a size 10 to a size 8 and I was extremely excited. With college and work this year, though, I exercised when I could, but had less time for it. I figured hey, I walk about 4-5 miles in a 4 hour shift at work alone plus all the other things I do during the day, so exercise when I can and I'll still keep the weight off since I don't eat all that unhealthily anyway. But no. It didn't work like that. I gained it back and then some, so now I'm heavier than I've ever been in my entire life (though working to lose it again). And I went from a size 8 to a size 10/12. :( Oh well, I guess we're both gonna have to start trying a little harder, huh? My HHP teacher did suggest trying a rewards system, though. Somehow, find a way to calculate rewards for when you do good in a day, but you don't get a reward when you do bad. For mine, I've started using color coded stickers (one for when I exercise well, one for when I eat well, and one for when I do both) and they all have "monetary value" (the last one is worth the most at $1 and the other two are $0.25 each) so that whenever I save up the money from doing good I can buy myself a little treat (I've got my eye on a book right now, in fact!). Good luck and feel free to send me a message if you need a couple words of encouragement! :)

Thats a really good idea. I was using the i have to put off my trip to see my boyfriend an extra day for every week i dont exercise the right about. That got knocked WAY off course though when he decided he was coming HERE first and then didnt bother getting his passport. I've decided to start back on that - except it will be a i can put so much into my fund for visiting him for each day im good or have to take some out for each time im bad. It might be a bit more incentive. As well I've tossed a few outfits i REALLY want to wear but are a tad to snug to do up around the house so i see them and get motivated to make them fit! (without getting out the sewing machine that is. Thanks for the suggestions! I hope your "diet"/weightloss goes well for you!
