Help me to get rid of unwanted software from my control panel.

I've been working this problem for a couple of days but still no success. This is not much critical but I was really confused how does thing happen. I have installed a really simple desktop application program for testing purposes, after a month, I have decided to uninstall it. The uninstall process has been completed but still the program name shows on my control panel. I have go into the program files and deleted the corresponding folder for such program but still no luck at all. I have visited my registry and found the folder is there, I deleted it and when I go into the control panel again, the program is still there. Any one has an idea what should I do to remove this program to my control panel? I don't want to use any kind of registry leaner, I want to remove it myself even it is manual process or what, All I have to do is to have an idea how this problem occur and what is the appropriate solution to get rid of this problem. I was really interested for this since it is new to me. I thought once you run the uninstall process, then everything goes away but this is really weird.I know there are lots of computer expert here in myLot and I believe I can received appropriate response from you guys.
