I just recently became a member of helium but yet i still started writing articles for a writing contest, it is very exciting to be in a competition that flucates, right now im in sixth place but i have only written two articles....one for right now is in the top spot and i feel so like talented and special because of it....is this newcomers joy or has anyone else experienced what I am feeling?

Don't get too excited. Sometimes the articles at the top in the first week drop during the second week. But you have the right idea. Writing for contests and Marketplace is the best way to earn money on Helium.

How did the writing contest turn out? Winning a contest on a site like helium is a good way to establish your credentials as a writer. I have not entered any contests there as of yet myself.

Only ever entered one which was about a year ago and won $75. Think I ended up writing five articles to win it. I have looked occasionally since but topics of interest to me just haven't come up, and as the competition is so stiff have decided to only write about stuff I like and know about.

Yes, I entered several contest, but never won. It felt devastating. That is why I started my own Poetry contest. People can enter as many poems as they want, and they have a really good chance at winning because the site is not that popular yet.
