No jobs--due to recession -- i dont believe it. there r jobs in the market, may be the numbers have come down but there r opportunities and these vacancies r getting filled internally or by reference. recently i had attended 2 interviews--everything was complete but one fine day i come to know that the post is filled internally. this is really bad and demotivating. Reference is most important nowa days, even a person who is not qualified or is not having the required experience gets a job very easily. i saw many such people who r not so qualified but r still working and many qualified people are unemployed for a long time without any reason.

There are a shortage of jobs out there due to the state of the economy, but it is a great opportunity to step out of the box and do something different. Currently, I am in the process of getting my TX state license to provide financial services to families that need help. This is not a typical 9-5 job, but I make my own hours. Also, I am helping people, which makes me feel good about what I am doing. If I had not been concerned about the prospect of loosing my job I would have most likely passed this opportunity by. What state are you in? I can put you in contact with the office in your state if you are interested.

I also believe that recession is not a cause of unemployment. I always believe that if a person wants to work and wants to have a job then he will do everything to have one. He will take whatever job is offered just to have a job. I believe that when you want something there's no way you can't get it. I myself have failed so many times during job interviews but that is not an excuse to give up. No matter how hard fate and how hard time is I still believe that there is a job that is meant for me. If I do not get the job I want then I just teach myself to be contented with what is given to me. Anyway there is always room for improvement and there are always chances to grow and move to the job you want internally or applying to other companies. I believe that as long as there are people and babies born every minute, then there will be endless jobs. As long as we are eating, studying, swimming, exercising and everything then there will be endless job opportunities. The problem lies not with recession but with people's attitude in getting job. So no matter how people describe the crisis and no matter how threatening the recession is I am still very positive that I will get a job. That is my attitude and that is how I live everyday. Being positive, not giving up and doing my part to get what I want.

I myself never had the chance to practice my profession. I can say that I am one of the unfortunate people who were unlucky to get a job lined to my profession. I am a nurse never had the chance to work as a nurse. I am planning to take some masters to be an institutional nurse. I hope this step for my career plan will work.

Yes there are jobs out there but there are three times as many applying for the same job. You do need good references and expierences to even get an interview. It does help if you know someone who work in a company. It is hard on college students who are just graduating to get a job. The recession is what is making it hard to jobs.

The amount of jobs have drastically decreased in the states because of the economy. My friends have been out of college for over a year and still can't find jobs other than retail jobs and those don't pay the bills. The only reason I was able to get a job right out of college was because my father works for a different branch of the company. You need an "in" to get a job now.

I do agree with you regarding that references are one of the most important thing to have to get a job with. My husband was let go last summer at a job he worked at for years and he was on unemployment for 8 months then a month ago he found the best job he has ever had and he love's it! If it wasn't for my husbands years of good reference's he probably wouldn't have got this good job he has today.

With the recession being hours are being cut from some places, forced paycuts, people are being fired for things that an employer might in the past be just warned about. Having good references is good. Some employers won't hire someone until the references are checked. Plus are willing to stay on the line without hanging up. Also many places like referrals. Also, if you have lots of skills, experience in a related field, employers like that too. Good looks or fashion sense help for things like clothing, shoe, cosmetic stores. So I think you have to have something to offer that makes the employer not want to lose you to a competitor (another employer). People will be fired because they weren't a good fit or possibly even if someone better comes along. The recession means more people are fighting over hours and jobs. But workers are still needed. Employers still want the best possible employees as staff and are willing to make changes. But I agree with you, references are huge, if you have bad references or if your references don't answer than many employers won't hire you even if they liked you before, they will choose someone who has someone to say a good word about them above other things.

somebody post here, that its who you know for you to get in the job, but once inside its what you know that will last you in that job. some company are doing retrenchment for them to save, some company are giving two task or more to one employee. A lot of reason fo them not to hire form outside. This recession are getting worst, i just hope that late this year, it will be a little bit better.

Recession is true in united states. But if you talk about asian countries. Many employers are creating a false impression that they are under the effect of recession. But that is totally insane. negotiate with them and they will know better the power of us- the work force. I had been in situation like this and guess what i got promoted..!So be bold enough to say that our company is not under the effect of recession if you are from asian countries(exception : companies who receive projects from united states)
