With science providing more answers, will religion end, be outlawed or abolished within the next 100 years ? What do you think ?

The big 0 is trying to abolish it here in the US with his "volunteer youth group" where for three years they cannot be involved in religious activities and must chant his glories. But they will never abolish Judaism. It will always be the one constant in this world. They have tried for millenium after millenium and the Jews are still here and will remain so. Shalom~Adoniah

Hi Adoniah! What I am about to say is meant in a humorous way so please dont take offense Jews are the religious cockroaches of the world cockroaches have been on this earth since the dawn of time and will still be here long after we are gone Judaism has been around for a long time and its not going anywhere its been a constant throughout history and will remain a constant until this earth ceases to exist

Adoniah, I'm most confused. Are you referring to GIVE? If so, I suggest you find a news source outside world net daily as your information on Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act is very wrong.

I will back-up lisa on this. I just researched the legislation in question. There is absolutely NO wording in that bill that prohibits a volunteer youth from practicing his religion while being part of this program. A Nations Service position(not the person) cannot be used for engaging in religious instruction, worship services, part of a program requiring religious instruction, operating facilities devoted to religious activities, maintaining facilities devoted to religious activities, or engaging in any form of proselytization. This and 10 other activities are part of sec 132A. The only other reference to religious activity is under sec.5103(c)(3)...ineligible service categories: A Business organized for profit B Labor union C Partisan political organization D Religious or faith-based organization for the purpose of proselytization, worship or any other expicitly religious activity. So, Adoniah, usually when such extreme opinions are spouted about what the other side is doing, it pays to really investigate and try to discover what really was written. WorldNetDaily's version is a far cry from reality. And Obama, as President, only signs the bills into law. Congress is the law-making branch of our government. He may find members of Congress to sponsor bills that support his policies, but he does not make the bills, only members of Congress can do that.

I think science and religion almost depend on each other to survive, because no one knows how the universe came to be at all. Science says it was the big bang, but there's no proof as to how the big bang actually happened because you can't get something out of nothing. Religion says it was god who created the Earth etcetera, I don't think religion will ever die or be outlawed/abolished. If there was no religion, humans would have no faith system or sense of right and wrong.

Why would religion die out? Religions cause for existence is not to provide answers. The most important aspect of religion is its ability to unite communities and provide a bond of mutual trust between believers. I don't see this changing in the next one hundred years. Here is an interesting answer from The New Statesman to your question if you are interested. http://www.newstatesman.com/books/2009/05/religion-american-modern-world

With science discovering more answers on how the universe works, it will confirm that a supernatural being, "god", had a hand in all of this. A super-intelligence was required to formulate all of the physical, chemical, biological, and natural laws that shape this universe. Religion will become more of a necessity to understand the underlaying purpose of it all.

No, I don't think religion will disappear.Though Science isunravelling quite a lot of the "secrets" of the universe, ther are always going to be problems that the Science will not provide answers for. One can however hope for a more balanced world without religion as one reason for the strife. That would be welcome however. The number Atheists may soar and believers may be a minority. However if the religious leaders had their way they would successfully instill fears in peoples' minds about the end of the world or something of that sort, so that the number of believers could kept high. There is of course on more thing called the cry of the soul, that would keep people going to Religion again and again. Further, religion has a way of throwing mysteries at you to keep the interest going. The mysteries will keep alive religion till end of the world. And then you have the crazy die hards. Religion is an excellent engagements for their minds.

True Christianity can never be abolished because the "truth" can never be abolished. Truth is indestructible and true science merely proves the existence of the God of the Holy Bible. True Science, not man's unproven theories, screams the words, "intelligent design". The patterns and designs in life, the seasons and our solar system are so exact that there is no way they these things could have just "happened" without the existence of a creator whose intelligence far exceeds our own.

science does not disprove God or Christianity. Even if it were to be outlawed Christianity will continue to grow as it did during the days of communism in Russia and it is today in China. Religion will just goes under ground and get stronger.

I hope that religion is never outlawed or abolished. I'm agnostic, I don't believe in religion as a whole. However, no matter what science proves or disproves, I think people should ALWAYS have the right to believe in what they want - no matter how silly or wrong it may seem. As long as those beliefs aren't directly harming someone else, I see no reason why they shouldn't be allowed to believe and practice their beliefs as they please.
