Do you eat ONLY when you are hungry?

There are only two types of people. Either you eat to live or live to eat. I am not asking which category you belong you.
We all need to eat to give our body the necessary energy and nutrients. Some people eat only when they are hungry. Some people eat because it is time to eat. Some people eat because they cannot resist the temptation not to eat.
So, what is your habit? Do you eat only when you are hungry or even when you are full? Which should be the correct way? Kindly share your opinion.

I'd say I eat at most 2 meals a day and snacking when I'm not hungry. You know, like going to the movies I will munch snack bars, popcorn, on top of my 2 meals a day. But my metabolism is pretty high, so I'm kind of not gaining weight. I believe in eating to live, LOL..good one here..

Hi bighead,
I guess I am a hybrid version. I eat both to live and live both to eat. It really depends on my frame of mind when the opportunity or need to eat arises.
I seldom skip my two main meals (brunch and dinner). Quite often I don't feel really hungry when I just wake up but I will go prepare brunch anyway. But the time I get down to the business of eating, I will either feel hungry or at least okay enough to eat my breakfast.
I rarely not feel hungry around dinner time unless I ate my brunch late. I would go look for something to tempt myself if I am outside and this would be one of those "live to eat" times. Anyway if I skip dinner, it is likely I would feel hungry later on that would bring me digging for food subsequently.
When I am hungry, I keep thinking of food and how nice things can be (of course when I really get to eating them, usually they don't taste as good as I remembered or am led to believe). And when I am full, don't ask me where I want to go or what I want to eat for my next meal. When I am full, the brain does not want to think about food.
I don't think there is a "correct way" - that depends on where you are coming from. If you are being a holy nutritionist, I guess you want to eat 5 or 6 healthy small snacky meals a day. If you are a gourmet, you need to stuff as much earthly delights as you can before you expire.
What about you?
PS.: Does all the undigested food get stored up in your big head? ![](/Content/images/emotes/whistle.gif)

When I was younger I used to eat only when I was hungry. I think this is the right way to eat.
Now, that I'm over thirty, and most of all because I've got hormonal problems, I eat because I've got cravings. I wish I was more disciplined, believe me, I've tried, I do Yoga and Meditation exercises every day, but I can't resist the temptation to eat.
I thought I would be able to control the "out of order" eating at least when I'm at home by doing some Yoga exercises as soon as I feel like "stuffing myself". In vain. It just doesn't work. Maybe it's because I know that I will a lot better once I've eaten what I was craving for. Although this feeling doesn't last long. I've always been very slim and since I'm eating although I don't "need" to, I've put on a lot of weight, although I'm not fat yet, lol.
This is definitely not the correct way... We shouldn't eat when we know that our body has had been provided with enough food to function, taking into consideration the kind of lifestyle we lead. Easy to say...

It has been said that one puts on weight because the caloric input is more than the output. However, life would be less enjoyable if one needs to count calories for meals. Hence, physical exercises might be more useful compared to Yoga which is more for the mind and endurance.

I can't eat when I'm full or I feel ill, but if I "fancy" something in between meals and I'm not too full, then I'll have it. It's as simple as that. Otherwise, I eat three good meals a day, because that was the way I was brought up.
Brightest Blessings.

Hi whyaskq, you are asking question again here lol Yeah, we couldn’t survive if without taking any food. After having food we prefer to take nutritious food to keep our body healthy and fit as well. If we are really hungry we are not so picky when taking food, right?
I enjoy eating all kind of delicious food. Yeah, other than the foods served in the essential daily meals, there are still a great amount of yummy foods, like my favorite desserts, snacks as well as junk food too. I admit that I could hardly refrain myself from taking certain tasty food if I come across any of them. The number one food is durian, followed by cheese cake and coffee flavor ice cream
Even if I’m really full I still will take a little of them.
I know it's really not good for my health, and my weight surely will keep on going up, but I just like to do so

Well, as a rule I prefer to eat before I am really hungry, because that tends to lead people to make unwise choices.
Although I tend to eat more or less at regular hours, if left by myself - and not have to worry about anyone else - I usually end up eating when I am hungry.
Sometimes I also eat not because I'm hungry but because there is a treat that I want to try.
So when I think about it, I don't think I follow any special rule consistently, but I try LOL

Most of the time I just eat when I am hungry. But sometimes there are times that I eat when I am still somewhat full from my previous meal. Especially when it comes to treats, like ice cream! I know, it's not good to do this and I do try to avoid it, but sometimes it cannot be helped! LOL I do tend to stop when I'm full though. I don't want to make my tummy pop, after all! LOL
Happy mylotting!

I guess I would be a person that eats to live. Many times I don't eat when my stomach is screaming for nourishment. I hardly ever eat breakfast, but don't worry, I don't allow myself to starve either. I have so many problems just finishing a plate however, there's no way that I would eat after I'm full. I know this is something that I should do something about before it becomes a serious problem, but for now, at least I know I'm not overeating.

Dear whyaskq,
I am normally have my meal because I am trained up
that 'it is meal time..breakfast, lunch & dinner'.
But nowadays, I usually have sort of Brunch (Breakfast + Lunch).
so, skip lunch and take early dinner...that's me!
But my 2nd sister is different, she lives to eat...she just
could not resist food, whenever there is food on the table,
she will sit down and enjoyed it..irrespective what time is it!
Full or hungry is not in her vocabulary - see food, must eat!
All the best and do keep in touch!
