What are ways to be more "Green?"

Well, for starters, I like to shower during the first half of the day, because my bathroom window is facing east, and the sun rises in the east. This means that while I shower, I do not have to use electricity for me to see. I also try and be fast in the shower, so less water is used.
If I could, I would be switching out the insulation of this house for an insulation with a greater R-Value, so the heat stays in longer, so I dont have to burn as much natural gas.
I want to see some ideas folks. Farther than recycling the daily news paper.

Using homemade cleaners. I make my own laundry detergent (washing soda, borax, bar soap and water). It turns out to be about 2 cents per load of laundry. I use vinegar with maybe a squeeze of lemon or lime to make it smell better, as well as baking soda, etc.
Also, when I prepare a meal I make enough to have leftovers or I make freezer meals. I live in an apartment so I do container gardening for some of my own spices, tomatoes, and a couple other small veggies. I NEVER wash a small load of laundry, I wait till we have a large load. In the spring and summer I use a clothes line and dry my clothes that way. In the winter and autumn I do a scaled down version to dry jeans and other heavy materials that fits in my apartment.
I NEVER buy plastic bottles of water or juice. There's more, but the husband wants to use the computer.
