Do you believe clothes make the person?

I think they do! Personally I feel better about myself if I have a nice outfit on, doesn't have to be fancy but fit well, like the colors, my own style. My whole attitude is different if wearing a color I don't like, something scratchy, or that I just plain don't like.
How about you?

It depends on how much one pay's attention to his/her appearence.
It is a matter of fact that if you're dressed good, you'll feel good and confidant, and vica versa. But it's not the case all the time. I for one don't really care about having the perfect outfit, as long as I don't make a fool of myself.

Oh come on now you know you have a favorite sweat shirt or pair of jeans that you like better than all others and brings out the best in you. I don't think it has to be the 'perfect outfit' just that YOU feel good in it.

Of course there are. Everyone has Them. What I meant was it's not compulsory that you have to look good to feel good or be good.

And it was just a personal opinion. I feel good when I'm in a good mood. And it doesn't matter then what I'm wearing then.

can a guy get in here ? i myself think they deffinitly do, my pet peave, i dont like women in skintight clothes, never have. those skin tight jeans etc. are good for hangin out or bar hoppin i guess but give me a woman with nice cotton slacks fit right. just enough slack or looseness to fall right to the heel, and any blouse is it called ? that doesn't tell all and leaves something to the imagination. shoe's ? if a say something wrong lol it might give you a reason to buy your 200 pair.

guy certainly can get in here didn't mean this for just women. I think men look terrific in a nice fitting suit and nice to hear a man doesn't like tight cloths on women (I don't like them either - to wear).

I do feel better about myself if I'm dressed up. Most of the time I am in jeans or shorts so I can be comfortable. We've had several weddings this spring so when I change my comfy mode to dressy, I do feel different about how I carry myself and look. I've seen some average looking women dress nice and admire their choice in clothes. Does make a difference.

LOL - I have a couple spring dresses, really skirts and tops in same material, that I totally love and wear them to church, weddings, any excuse just because I feel 'great' in them. I'm sure my family gets tired of seeing the large flower print of both of them but I don't care I feel good in them.

oh I'm a firm believer in 'dressing up in jeans' - thing is they can be very fashionable and dressed up with sweaters, jackets, or nice tops.

I wear anything round the house, usually my older clothes. No-one sees me so I don't worry to much. If I go anywhere I always like to look nice and as if I care. I like all my clothes and don't have anything scratchy or the wrong colour...I just have separates and I'm fussy about what goes with what.

I just went through a bunch of cloths my Mom gave me a few weeks ago - passed several things on to Goodwill because they were scratchy or the wrong color (really nice cloths to but I knew I'd never where them).

I'm actually not that choosy about the clothes i wear. what matters most for me is comfort. but i have to agree that in a sense, clothes do make the person. i'm not a professional businesswoman or something, but by dressing up smartly for maybe going to a reunion or something, i might actually seem like one. that's why it's usually said to wear the appropriate clothing for your job interviews. first impression is the last impression like they say. usually anyway.

Yep that's me, I'm all for comfort and the least little thing can make it uncomfortable - can't deal with scratchy stuff at all, no wool for me :(

Oh yeah, clothes do make the person. I mean, really, you've seen the beggar on the street in dirty clothes, torn knees, etc. When you see someone dressed like that you're not going to think much of him/her, but you take that same person, clean them up, put on nice, though, as you said, doesn't have to be fancy, and your perception of that person will change.

I have what I call my 'power suit' - navy blue jacket and skirt. I always wear that when I apply for a job - every interview I've worn it to I've gotten. At the same time jeans, a favorite sweater, and tennis shoes and I can take on the world.

That is sad but true - I wish we could all wait until we got to know the person underneith the clothes before forming an opinion but you are right that first impression can sometime be very difficult to get past if its not a good one.

I don't believe that at all. If you feel more comfortable ina certain kind of clothing, that is just great, but clothes should not make every person. I like what's comfortable. I don't care about fashion, and what is trendy, I just want to wear what *I* like! I don't give a dang if people think it does or doesn't look good on me, If I like it, that's all that matters. My husband appreciates me for me, and feels the same about my fashion and his own. We make a great pair.

Oh I'm the same way, not a trendy thing in my wardrope and it's not a matter of what other people think or like - it's what I like particularly am comfortable in.

I agree with you a person should were what they are comfortable in. Clothes do not make a person. How you feel about yourself makes you a person. When you wear what you want and don't care what other think makes you your own person. If we are happy then we will make other who are around us happy.

Definitely, it does!!!! You can feel it because people will admire your looks with the outfit you had. And people also will treat you well, when you are in a nice outfit. If you are walking around in a not good looking clothes? people will not respect you. They don't even let you feel that you are around.. Lol but when you are in a nice outfit? they will like you. That is a fact.

Yes, only for simple clothes. I don't like people who overdo their clothing or fancy clothes. I like the simple clothes with confident attitudes. But honestly, clothing is the second asset. The first is to be confident enough and how to carry for yourself. It is what that matters most. hehe

I like both but do agree having confidence is a big thing and can make or break the appearance of a person no matter what they are wearing.

Very true about actions and words - I dress for the most part for myself but I am sure people who don't know me make their first judgement on my appearance.

Yep - still in pajamas, hair all over the place, and am thankful no one can see me. I have however found that often I will be more productive even online when I am wearing something I like and feel I look good in = even if no one can or will see me :)

yes. for me the kind of clothes a person wears could tell something about them. clothes and fashion should reflect your own personality and style. it depends on your own preference. you should wear whatever makes you look and feel good. if you are happy about your clothes, it could contribute to your self confidence.

I don't think I so much take people or ok lets be honest 'judge them' by their cloths but I do think when I see someone wearing some really crazy outfit they usually end up to be really crazy :(
'self confidence' that's the word - I do seem to have more if I feel like I look good and I look better when I feel good.

It's a good thing you don't but this whole discussion usually ends up on the point of whether one judges "Others" on the basis of what they're wearing rather than how you yourself would feel about your wardrobe.

I do my best not to let the cloths form my opinion of someone's character - too often I have been wrong, of course there are the obvious ones.

This is mine, when I like my clothes and I am comfortable surely I will be a jolly person for the day. Yes I do agree that it differs you from your personality , it creates a new you. Sometimes when the color is strong I look vibrant and it seems everyone is noticing me and liking me.

I definately feel better about myself if I'm dressed up a little bit. A couple of years ago when my husband was working for one of the hospitals here in Little Rock, he worked directly for the chancellor of the medical school associated with the hospital. It seemed that everytime I was dressed in sweats and a ratty old t-shirt, we would run into his boss. I couldn't believe Mike would want to introduce me to the Doctor with my hair in a ponytail, no make up and sweats with a hole in the knee.

I know, I will see people on the street or in the store and think, "Oh that is so cute" but if I tried to wear the same thing it would look totally different on me and not so 'cute'.
I'm rather tall with long legs and one thing that drives me crazy is pants that are too short, even just a little short and I won't wear them.

I think what you wear, is a mirror of what you are, especially your personality. in fact some people say, they can predict your mood by what you are wearing.
From experience, when I am not in the mood and bored, this will show in what I am wearing because, I would look boring. But if I am in the mood for the day ahead, you'll see me wearing vibrant colors, and blooming. I am not saying that if you are wearing black, white and other neutral colors...means you are boring. I mean, it is the aura... or maybe the confidence you have while wearing it. I can't find the exact words to describe it...and I wish I have the talent in poetry to describe to you that feel...that when a person comes in the room...everybody can see a glimpse of his or her personality by what they wore.
Maybe this is the reason why we are expected to wear smart clothes on an interview, right?

i think it has a great empact on personality, like goth they wear dark clothes to show there dark feelings, a happy person usually wheres nice clothes to express there happy emotions as well, so i would usually where sporty clothes to show that i am always ready for a game.

Great example the 'goth' dress. But is that the clothes making the person have those dark feelings or just the dark feelings inside coming out by use of clothing?
