So, if you not satisfied with your memory capacity, you can always expand it. Let's say, you have 1 GB memory, and you want to expand it to 3 GB. You simply just add more memory cards to it? So, if you see got my memory slots left on the board, you just filled up it with additional memory cards to expand it to 4 to 6 GB of memory capacity?

Each computer has memory(RAM) and it has limitation on how much RAM can be installed into the system. For example if your motherboard that can only handle a maximum of 2GB of memory, so you can only install up to 2GB of memory. Each slot has also limitation. If it only can handle up to 1GB, you cannot install 2GB type. You can find this information on motherboard's manual/user guide. You can only use the same type of RAM and cannot mixed other type of of RAM. Each type of RAM has different size and slot.
Some people confuse with memory(RAM) and hard disk storage. Hard disk is bigger in size and capacity. It can be installed externally via USB but not RAM. External hard disk normally use for backup and some people use it to store personal data like music and video.
