Would you find nice clothing from goodwill or thrift stores?

Most teenagers were influenced by their peers. They rather shop at brand name stores, because their classmates and schoolmates wear the same brand name clothes. From what I observed, some teenagers also wear tacky clothes which costs around $40 to $50 with a big hole on the knee section. That is totally outrageous, and it is called fad. What I found from thrift stores, and goodwill there are might be some nice clothing available to choose too. They are less pricey, and they are still nice if you can combine them with other clothes you have. Why not go around thrift stores and good will look around?

I'm seventeen, and me and a friend of mine used to go to Goodwill and Savers. We mostly did it for fun, but would find some cool things there. I also shop at the mall and name brand stores, but I also shop at regular stores, like Wal-mart, Target, Meijer...etc. I agree with the "hole in the knee" jeans, waste of money, because you can buy a cheap pair of jeans and tatter them up at home. It's easy all you need is a razor and some patience. Not all teens prefer to be like everyone else.

I have to say I agree with you on this. One time I got a pair of jeans that were gap but I got them for free and I always found that the jeans with designs and holes and safety pins were cool. Back then I was 19 and am 25 now. But I took those babies home and I put safety pins on them and had my friends draw on them and sign them. There was even a few holes put on them. I don't wear them anymore cause of my age and also cause I have gained weight to having children but I kept them. I figure that maybe my inner child will wear them someday when I lose the weight. But you are very much right though a cheap pair of jeans and patients you can have a pair of cool jeans that are so much cheaper.

haha im a really big believer in why should you pay a crapload of money at the mall for something you can find at a resale shop! i love shopping at thrift stores. and honestly the only time i buy something at the mall is when its clearanced or at pacsun sometimes they'll have a 2.99 rack hahha... or the 5.00 t-shirts i even shop at walmart or target i'm a bargain shopper lol. anyways maybe more people would shop there if they thought of it as a "going green: or recycling type thing... if you think about it we would save all the money these factories are using to make all these clothes and all the fabric if people just went thrift shopping and considered it a form of recycling. that's how i view it. :)

For starters I so love this discussion. I use to work at a Salvation Army and man do I miss working there now. When I was employed there I got an extra discount on the items that I buy. So when ever I shopped I would always look for the nice cloths that was in great condition and all. One day we got a hamper full of nothing but brand new items with tags and half of the clothing was name brand. May I add too that these hampers are a good 6-7 feet tall. So I of course went shopping after wards. I found a pair of those gap pants that are made with little holes in the knees and holes in the pockets brand new priced 75.00 dollars and with us being a thrift store they got priced 15.00 dollars. Now that is a big difference there. I even one time bought myself a Victoria Secrets nightgown that was brand new with tag priced 40.00 dollars and I got it for 15.00 dollars. Even Southpole clothing gets sold too for the fraction of the price. There was a pair of jeans that we priced and threw out on the racks to be sold and they sold within 10 minutes of being put out. The person got them for 15.00 dollars instead of 60.00. So I like to shop at thrift stores you can find great bargains there and you get your monies worth. I go at least once a month to look because you never know what you can get that is just as good as the clothing's that is bought at the mall.

Yup, that's also a great idea to save on clothes. Sometimes we can find a lot of really nice things in a thrift store, even the big brand names. And it would also cost us less, which is a plus especially during these hard times. You just have to know where to look and be patient enough to scour each aisle and rack.

Yes I buy from Goodwill and thrift stores. We have a Goodwill that has what is called "A Bargain Bin" in the back of the store. They have like 18 large bins of stuff they they change out every 45 minutes or so. You stand on a line (if it's crowded) and when the bin is rolled in front of you, you start grabbing. It's really fun. Most items are .50 or $1.00. Larger items are more. They have like washer and dryers for $15. I bought a 13" tv for $5. Great condition. And get this, the clothes are weighed. They cost #1.45 per pound. How cool is that. I found so many name brand clothes and purses. I often go to see what I can find and resell on ebay or yard sales. This store was featured on a news program and that's how I found out about it. So wherever you live I suggest you call your local Goodwill and find out if they have any secret Bargain Bin outlets. It's definitely worth it.
