How to get referrals

I have been working on ptc sites for a long time now but I never get any referrals. This causes me to work on my own until I reach payout. Not that it's hardwork but it's very discouraging to see that after a days, you are only a few cents nearer the minimum cashout.
So to all the people out there who have a lot of referrals, do you have any suggestions on how to build a downline?

I beleive getting referal is not so easy because now days as online earning is so popular people are searching how to make money online and they are finding some sites so they are joining directly and some people are searching some classified sites so if you want to make some referal then i suggest you to post your referal link in some good classified sites or else join some social sites like orkut and discuss with your friends and tell them how they can make money on line and try to register them under your referal link
