Things I learned recenty in Mylot

Yesterday morning, I stumbled into discussions about earning, ranks and stars in Mylot. With that, I have been ecstatic the whole day. Literally, I spent the whole day, responding to discussions, and creating new ones. In fact, I believe have done a lot, not to mention the discussions I have started. And with the number in mind, I was excited to wake up the following day, to check how much I have earned so far. To my dismay (or did I expected too much?)I only saw an increase of about 0.35 cents.
This is a lesson learned. Why? I have read a lot of discussions, saying, you should make your response longer, blah, blah, blah! I doubt it. We shouldn't jump to conclusions in making our hunch of how Mylot calculate the earnings, coz this will only mislead others. I hope old users will be more considerate in posting discussions to be able to guide the new ones. I categorized myself as one of the newbies (yesterday, I scored less than 70).
So please, to other Mylotters, be cautious of what you post, be a model t te new ones. Great day!

I think you should not be dismayed just yet. You are in a different time zone to myLot and some of your activity may have been after the last update and may appear in the next one.
More than half my activity recently is spent helping users, both old and new, with advice on how to make the most of their time spent here but I have never suggested any amounts ever. That is not possible because we are paid for the quality of our activities and not for the quantity so each user earns differently. I don't know what advice you have been reading or what tips you have been given but I did look at your profile right now and I suggest that instead of trying to post lots of responses and discussions you concentrate on doing fewer but longer. One and two lines are not going to be earning you very highly.

Oh gosh - you have already awarded the BR? If you waited you might have had other responses worthy of it too Thank you!
Please get back to us if your earnings after the next update are better ok?

There is actually a good point in writing longer posts - you can even test it out for yourself :) Try investing one day of writing one liner responses and compare your earnings on that with your long discussion day earnings :) There's a HUGE difference.
But you are still right that myLot members shouldn't feel like they actually KNOW how myLot pays us. MyLot administrators don't even give away THAT information themselves!
I suggest you actually increase the number of posts you make in a day :) Try 50 - based on my personal experience, that earns me a dollar or more :)
Thanks for the response on my discussion!

I meant "try replying to 50 discussions" and then try to make your responses at least 3 lines long. Of course, there is no rule on how much you'll earn per response... none of that information is disclosed. We can only rely on our personal experiences :)

I wanna konw the meaning of "Try 50" and more about the rules of response to earn.
Thanks a lot.

Mylot calculations are the greatest mysteries yet to be solved....but as you say, you are a newbie here and with some more time, you will gradually get a hang of it...I mean you can be sure of a certian earning thru a certain number of posts. I have that in my mind about my own postings and its more or less near to what mylot pays me. Sometimes its maybe some cents more or less, but then that's OK for me.

No problem fozziem. As I have been like you too a fews day ago, I feel for you. Just enjoy, and keep in mind the tips that you'll come across. Don't be too conscious about how you are doing with rating and starts as I have been, just do what you enjoy doing...but do it with quality. You don't have to be perfect in replying to discussions...you just need to have content, and not just blabbing about something you are not sure of, just for the sake of the number of replies you want to reach. Cheers! And happy Mylotting!

hey this great I have been reading some of the posting that you guys haveput up and it is helping me out. I have been looking at the different discusions and tthey are great. Especially if they dealwith in the same kind of interest to you. Please forgive me in my spelling I having been typing for a very long time or I should say paragraphs, so I might be a little rust. However, if there are any tips that you would like to share besides the one that i have already read, would be greatly appreciated. thank you

The things i recently learned from mylot is on how to get my earnings through paypal. Before, i was using moneybookers and then here comes new way of getting your earnings and it is said you need to have a paypal account. At first i really get pissed off because i was thinking that it would be very hard for me. But lately i just did withdraw my earnings here through paypal.. Thank you mylot.

The truth is there are so many different ways that you can earn and everyone is different. One person's definition of a long response, discussion or comment might be different for others. The only thing I can think of to do is just to type your opinions and have fun doing it. Respond to as many discussions as you want or can without getting distracted and just space out the day with what you do. I've done that and was surprised at my earnings yesterday. Not only is it silly to try to guess how to earn here, but it's against the rules. The algorithm is special to mylot and they don't want anyone to figure it out.
I hope more members can prove to be a mentor for others, and while I know that the older members have done so in the past, myself included, I hope we can continue to reach out and help those who are just starting out in mylot.
Happy Mylotting by the way! I'm sure with time your earnings will increase with experience!

Chalking it up to experience, is the best way to go. Being nice to everyone is also great because you get a new friend, and monetarily wise you get more people to respond to you and much more to talk about PLUS the added bonus is you might just learn something you didn't know about. That's the greatest thing about mylot, you can learn things that even you didn't know about, and sometimes it can help a great deal.
With so many topics out there, wow!

Yes, I have learned from experience. Next time I see a newbie like me, I'll definitely, definitely, try the best I can to assist him or her to the right path here. It was just so painful, sitting the whole day, with eyes stucked on my screen, just to find out the following day, that I earned not what I expected. But like I said again and again today...charged to experience.

I agree, I am new to this site and so far I spent so much time here trying to make money and got no where's, Not at all, But I will have to say, I do enjoy chatting with others, and I found being here I am learning, so what I learn I would love to help others to learn as well, I may not be the best at spelling, but I do enjoy chatting with others, and making friends, you find someone to chat with and find an interest you will have a lot to chat about.

I think mylot should disclose that the calculation of earning to all members of mylot because we are not able to know for what posting how much we have get paid, if we get to know then we will follow the same method to make good money or else some time we aprticipate in some discussions and after deleting that message they reduce our money so my lot should let their members know that how much they are paying for every posting

There is no set rate for earnings and while no-one except the admin knows how it works, hits (traffic) to discussions, responses and comments play a large part in calculating the earnings hence the need for quality. Text language will not earn anything for example.

Mylot earnings...........
Hey Sonusd,
I agree with you that mylot should let their members know how much is being paid for each discussion or comment posted. I hear that it's between one and two cents but I'm not 100 percent certain on this. Everybody is saying that we should just have fun and while I agree with that statement I happen to believe that a member will have even more fun if he or she knows exactly what they are being paid and for what.

Maybe because, this site is not plainly about earning...but more on sharing thoughts. From the hours I spent yesterday...jumping from one discussion to another...I learned from mysdianait that, it really does make more sense, if you stay to one discussion.

I noticed that you are a new MyLot user. Welcome!
Spending the whole day and only getting 35 cents tells me that you still may need to look into the different tricks you can use to increase your money.
My main reason for coming on here isn't for the money. It's a nice bonus, but I really just like to spend a little time exchanging thoughts with people. I usually spend about an hour a day, and I usually get between 20 and 30 cents for that hour (about 2 cents a post). There have been a few occasions when, due to boredom, I have spent a lot of time on here in one day. The most was one day when I also spent most of the day on here, and I got a little over $3. Now, this in no way makes spending all that time on here worthwhile, but it's more inline with what you can get when spending an entire day on here.

I am clapping my hands now for you. 3 dollars in a day? That is far better than the 35 cents I had, and mind you...the only time I was away from my laptop was only to eat meals and go to the CR. Call me crazy, but I was so determined to really score big yeaterday. That really is awesome, you must've been one good writer...kuddos to you. And yeah, I am trying every possible way I can to enjoy it here.

Wow, I think that you are doing good here, I guess some really no what to say and how to say things, were others have a hard time chatting with strangers, Me, I may not be the best speller but I love to chat, I will chat about anything and everything, I also have found that you can learn a lot on here from someone else, I think that is great, But I guess I would have to say, the pay here stinks but it's friends you met and make here. But you have really don't really great for your self, I do wish you the best in all you do.

Than can be a possible factor too. Then again, it's really hard to say how Mylot calculates our earnings here. Some would say that it's probably because ogf the length of the response... or could be some discussions were deleted...it's really hard to tell.
My best shot is to only respond to discussions that are of interest to me. That way, I am able to respond with enthusiasm, and that means more quality, rather than respnding to everybody, and not being sure what they're talking about.

hahahah.. i agree with you! its really hard to comment on something that you cannot relate with, it sometimes it leads to miss understanding and misleading information,
me too, i dont comment to any discussion which i cant relate or i dont have an idea about, or responding just for the sake of earnings.

Hi, kryzell! I learned a lot of things HERE today. This whole discussion contains so much information and i am glad you started it! I know of one old user (old? i don't think that thoughtful yellow face gets old...) being considerate as she is, she really gets around helping newbies like us. There were times i had my own questions and i sent her a pm, she gave me the answers at once. I know the answers are in the faqs but during the time i was reading all those guidelines i was having one of my "foggy brain" moments. I never considered starting a discussion to get my answers. I just kept reading others' discussions to get some tips (i don't have the talent for creating a topic that is more appealing and that would get a lot of responses anyway). Oh, before i forget the reason i'm here this late, let me say thank you! I have to go looking for that thoughtful yellow face again...i am hunting her, you know...

Hi Kryzell, those mylotters are sharing their experience with you. It's up to you to experiment and find out how long the post should be.
Anyway, being Asian, we are in a different time zone. I think if you add the combination of earnings from two days, you should see a higher than average earnings.
It's true that longer posts make more money, I did not know it at first, and make more than 20 short postings, just to make a miserable 1 cent. That's the lowest earning in a single day. The most is more than a dollar.

Good for you! I can't imagine myself earning a dollar at this moment. I am hoping that I'd get there. With what happened, I felt a little bit insecure with my type of writing. Because if it's not about quantity... then it must've meant that my responses weren't that good, and I am pretty sure I placed some effort to each of them. That's just a bit awful, but atleast I learned.

Well, I will have to agree, I am new to this site, and so far, I have found that I am learning from others here, not on everything, But what I can say is I do enjoy chatting with others and making friends, now the thing that I found is you meet friends and find that you have the same interest you will have a lot to talk about, with not even thinking you get to talking and time will pass, I really do enjoy meeting others and learning their likes and their dislikes and the next thing you learn is how the time has gone, I found when I was looking very hard to find a way to make money I found it was not going any wheres but I do love to chat and make friends, so this may be the way for me, maybe it is the way for you. some really no how to talk and some of us really must work hard on what to say, Just try with looking for friends and find what everyone likes, and go from there, who knows maybe you will someone with the same interst and the time will fly.

Thanks for sharing this learning you got from mylot. If you really want that you will be rewarded in all your responses, make sure always that the discussion you responded is not a repetition. It will take time since you need to check previous discussion but this is the only way I can think of to get reward in all your responses.

Just do the DO's and do not do the DON's. its simple.
If you have read already, just read again. So, you will know what suppose to do to increasing your earn. If it is your will.
If you only saw an increase of about bla, bla, bla its mean you are not intend in the quality post and response.
The 'activity' here mean a lot, not just how many but i think mean our intension in some topic discussion..
happy myLotting everyone..

Of course, that's probably the best way to increase your earnings here. Sometimes, after reading it the first time, we don't make particular attention to little details. Sometimes, we find ourself dismayed, only to find out that it's our fault after all...being to quick in jumping to conclusions, and too clumsy not to consider the do's and dont's...again, learn from me.

today is 1 week for me on Mylot. I spend a lot of time reading posts to try to learn as much as I can. From what I have read you don't make a fortune posting but can make money doing tasks and together they add up to a payout.
I am just learning about stars and ranks but have not hit my 100 mark yet. I am so curious now and I really want to get there fast so I can see what rank I have.
I love this site.

Good to know that. But my friend, learn from me...it's not about how many responses you did. In my case, I tried to make sure that I choose each topic I responded to. I don't respond just to gain, but I respond when I think the topic interests me. Still, that didn't count.

well, I would say I to have learned a lot for My eyeglasses broke and I'm being told you can't add links to this site, my thing is well, how do you add your own links. but i'm glad to hear some of us are learning as we go on, now with me, I find that you can respond all day and not really get any where's but a few cents, so far I only made 8 cents this is something that will take for ever to make anything

I believe I already said, I am new so far I only made 8 cents, but I'm guessing that If you enjoy making friends and chatting and finding their likes and dislikes you may have something to talk about, I understand that not all are able to just sit and chat with a lot of strangers that we no nothing about, well, I guess this is where we find our interest, we need to find someone with the same likes and dislike and see where everyone is with this site, then you just chat, I enjoy making friends and chatting. maybe this is what it will take for us I don't no until I try. I wish you the best in all you do
