The Decline of Morals
United States
May 25, 2009 6:49pm CST
Have you noticed that Christian principles of living have slowly eroded away. Even among professing Christians, some have decided that the world is more attractive than living for the Lord. We see the following:* Profanity
* immorality
* Breakdown of Marriages
* Disobedience of Children
* Gambling freely
* Inappropriate video entertainment
* Less parental Involvement
* Less Family time
* Fewer believers going to church
* Slowdown in giving
* T.V. invading the lives of children with lude entertainment
* Ungodly music of different generes
* Disrespect for one another
* Open racism
* Alternative Lifestyle promotion and legalization
And the list goes on and on. Why? Are there not enough believers available to shine the light of Christ in a dark world.
Are we compromising our children's relationship with the Lord?Have we lost our standards of living in accordance with the Bible?

Yes, we see a mass leaving of our first love. Embracing the world rather than the Lord who made us all! It's all a sign of the time... as mentioned in several of the New Testament books. All we can do is provide the example of how to return to Him, and stay in His arms. We must demonstrate relationship over religion!

It is very sad to see the continued decline of morals in our society. I agree with all the points you have brought up. I am not that old but during my growing up years the situation was not like this. But now young people tend to just do whatever they want with total disregard for morals and God. I hope that this is just a phase and we will all get over this phase.

Hi Teach,
Yes I see it! It is sad and very tragic! Our nation is suffering because we have pushed God away and His commandments. We have chosen to go our own way, which is a HUGE mistake! We have taken God out of our schools, homes, the government...everywhere! I believe are are just beginning to suffer because of our nation's rejection of Jesus Christ! We are reaping what we have sown!
I pray everyday for our nation...that we will come to realize that Jesus Christ is the only true answer to our problems. We cannot push Him away and expect Him to continue to bless our nation. It won't happen!
We need Jesus Christ so very desperately!
God bless.

I have noticed this also. But there are a couple of things that cannot be helped. It is becoming so hard to make a living that a lot of us have to be at work more than we would like, just so we can feed our families. I agree that we need to make more of an effort to protect our children from bad media. I think that our children are, in effect, being led in the wrong direction. I just don't know what to do about it. I have actually thought about sending my children to a private Christian school, but I cannot afford the tuition. My 12-year-old was a wonderful, caring child before she started middle school this year. Now, I can't do anything with her. She goes to church every Wednesday and Sunday, but she is still horrible. She talks back (to the point of yelling in my face as loud as she can), she is disrespectful to myself, my parents, and my grandmother. She claims that all of the children in her school act like this, and from what I've seen, I would believe it. I think that we all need to take a step back and reevaluate our lives. Maybe pray a little harder.

Sad to hear that your daughter is disrespectful when she shouts back at you or to her beloved. Remind her Ephesians 6:1-2 "Children obey your parents in the Lord for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise.
She must have been influenced by her friends and to what she sees a lot from them. But she must remember that God says in His word in 1John 2:15 "Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him." A true follower of Christ must show the fruits and the very character of Christ. If we don't possess that, we better check our own self.

Hello TeachForever, i believe that we are living in the last days just like what 2 Timothy 3:1-5 says , But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God —having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.
Jesus Christ already warned us that this will happen in the last days. More over what we should fear is the one that kills both the body and soul as what Matthew 10:28 says "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
We are living in this dark world and we know that the captain of our salvation Jesus Christ has commanded us to share His word to all. We must be strong and always keep His Commandments. To continue to run the race which was set forth for us. We must not compromise and live according to His will. As for our children, we must bring them back to the principle of Biblical truth. But we must set as a good example to them.

Hey teach, welcome to my lot.
As sad as it is that these things are happening today but do not be dismayed or shocked as it was already prophesied and predicted that these things will happen before the second coming of Christ. Jesus explains that clearly in the bible, particularly in the book of Mathew Chapter 24 and also Paul elaborates on this in his letter to Timothy, chapter 3. When you see all these things happening, don't lose heart. Rejoice in knowing that Jesus Christ is coming very soon to take us all home as this earth is not our home..
Only you do your part, and that is love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and all your strength and love others just as he has loved you. Go into the world and tell them what the Lord has done for you.. Keep believing and trusting him and don't fall prey to the pressures and miseries of this world...
