Any tips on things to look for when buying a house?

I was wondering if you fellow myLotters had any tips on buying a house. I know that in todays economy you need to have a ton of money saved up before considering to even buy. I would like to take advantage of the low price of housing. So if you have any tips of things to look for inside or around the houses you are thinking to buy please let me know. any help is appreciated thanks!
