ooooh! Never lose hope - thats the most important lesson in life. I'm sorry about your grandmother but i feel probably if you like drawing you can make good portraits of her or vent your mourning through drawing - i'm sure you are going to feel really light after that - All the best!

Hi Div...I do the same thing, and yes, even experts agree that drawing is "good" therapy :)

I agree. I am not much of am artist like you are but I tend to doodle a lot. More so when I am a stressed or down. This helps in letting go. Its indeed a good stress buster. I just saw your drawings. You are superb!

Yes, but unfortunately i am not good in drawing the thing i wanted to draw. When i am a child i used to draw trees, flowers, clouds, houses, and flying birds, but i don't feel doing it now. Instead of drawing i prefer to write if i am emotional or i am angry to release my emotions.

Ah okay, yeah in that way by doodle you can create images that is not perfect like abstract, but still i can not do that easily.
I still prefer writing because specifically i can write the literal thing and the specific things. I don't have that talent in drawing even a draft one.
I am trying to draw especially in yahoo imvironment doodle but could not make my mind and hand to draw.
Thank you in that idea.

Drawing can be even doodling - like bathroom singers, doodling artists don't have to worry about how perfect their art is. You simply have to scribble your emotion out - rather you are simply trying to divert your mind out of the stressful situation. Try it :)
However, writing is also a good way to release stress. Thanks for responsding.

I do not draw, but it is a good thing that you have something to help relieve the stress in your life, Some of the things that i do to help with stress is read, a good book is always good to get my mind off things, and if I'm really stressed I just take a walk and it helps work stress or anger out so i feel better.

I was never into drawing until recently.
My colleague at work is always drawing/shading, and she got me interested in it.
In fact, she introduced me to some sites where you can draw online using different tools. When she first suggested that I try my 'hand' at drawing, I was not too keen, but I agreed, so that I wouldn't offend her.
Oh boy! I was in for the biggest surprise! had no idea what was in store for me!
I agree with you, divkris, it's a great stress buster! Even for non-'drawers' like me...For a little while, my whole focus is on getting the shades right or exploring some drawing tool...or whatever. The point is, I'm so focussed on my attempt at drawing that I can forget about whatever was stressing me out!
The problem / cause of stress does not disappear, but I find that when I come back after such a break, I feel refreshed, I can think clearly, and sometimes even come up with a solution to whatever was bugging me.

Yes, drawing is a wonderful stress-buster and time spend. In my school days and even after that (i.e. till the time I plunged into the ocean of family life) drawing was a favourite past time with me. I would do everything related to drawing…scribbling, actual drawing, shading, painting…I had about two dozen paint brushes and so many shades and palettes…now of course its all gone. I’m way too busy to have any time to spend on leisure. But maybe one day when my involvement in my family would be less, I intend to continue once more.

Well for those that are good in drawing, perhaps this is one way of letting stress out. But I am not good at drawing, so obviously, I could not take out my stress by drawing. However, I do take out my stress by doing some relaxing. Usually, I sit and drink coffee. Its my way of relaxing and as I drink I think of good things and the comfort of life. Its like having a short vacation in the midst of tiredness. Well, it works for me. So that is what I usually do.

Hey, divkris!
For me it's exactly contrariwise. I'm very angry and stressed when I'm drawing.. because my skills are terrible at this :D I'm drawing like a kid. I can manage my anger level by surfing internet and lotting here ;)
Have a great day! Happy myLotting!

Everybody have some stress busters and I have music for me.I love to play my guitar whenever I like to get relieved from stress and it works great for me.Time just flies by and when I come out I am refreshed with music.About drawing, well,I know to draw some cartoon type figures. But I need concentration more and so it can't be my stress buster.Cheers!

Oh yes! Drawing is definitely a major stress reliever!
when I am in an exam hall and I do not know answer for any of the questions , I just pull out a paper and sketch something . It really takes me out of the exam feel .

as for me, it really is a good thing for stress management. It's also called image/drawing therapy to people who have a mental difficulties. It's a way of releasing your overloaded mind into something productive and diverts your stress. But sometimes, it stresses you especially when you wanted to draw but you don't know where to start, so it's not all the time that it's a stress buster. I recommend music therapy that soothes your ears.

I know this was posted awhile ago, but still... I love drawing and using it to channel emotion. Normally I use doodling as a stress reliever, because I can get pretty tense or stressed when I'm working on a drawing project. Though I suppose that is different from just drawing for fun. I use writing the same way and actually I find writing to be more of a stress reliever then drawing. I like to write out my frustration, I end up more relaxed afterwards.

Hi there :) yes it's indeed true that drawing is a good stress buster. Actually when you draw just randomly it explains what you are feeling at the moment. Try to draw things which just springs out from your boredom or current emotion and according to some psychologists that only shows a fraction of your subconscious thoughts. Once in our art class we were commanded by our professor to draw anything.. after we've done so we were one by one asked to stand in front of the class and explain to everyone why you drew it that way. When you manage to explain things and look through your previous experiences that's a good way of releasing stress or negative emotions. My classmate, who drew a train revealed that probably the reason why she drew it was that she can't manage to overcome the fear that had grew in her when they had once experienced an accident when she was still young. So yeah drawing is really a good stress buster and in many ways can actually reveal what's in your mind and heart.

I am not good at drawing, so I don't know. I think it is a good stress buster for people who are interested in drawing. I draw only when I am forced to draw....like practical records during my studies. I have drawn a lot of physics diagrams and those were not that interesting.

hey dalia, you dont have to be good at drawing to draw your thoughts out. Think of those primitives who started cave drawings. Did they know to draw - ney. So if you wnat to use drawing as a stress buster even line diagrams or line man are some of the good options you can start with. :)

Yes, of course. I'm very much interested in drawing. I've done many works and some have got me prizes too. Whenever I start drawing, I get 100% concentration on my work. I don't get this much concentration in any work. If my work is a success, then it gives me immense pleasure!

yes you are right! dancing IS a good stress buster as it diverts the mind and stimulates the physical body too. But when it comes to drawing you can pour in your thoughts into a media and you can let the world also know about your likes and dislikes! There are many who shy away from dancing but you can always draw in a private or a public area! :) Happy lotting.
