Athithi devo bhava is the moto here in india and it means guest you are welcome and considered like a demi god. Is it with you, Perhaps there is no time with anyone to entertain the guests like that particularly in the west this ritual is missing. Some of my friends visited us in the last holidays and were treated like anything by me and my wife, thus he felt flattered by the hospitality. He invited us to his place, but I think west is west and you never know!

When i have guests round i make them feel at home i show them where everything is and go out of my way to make them comfortable. That might be the motto in India but many Indians here in england dont use it i went to visit a relative because my train was stopped and i couldnt get home they basically said tought we dont care. And there indians.

Ofcourse, we do same in our place. ATHITI DEVO BHAWA. Last year in dussera my relatives (Causion family) came to my place. it was main day to have tika from elders on next 2 days. and I was informed that I supposed to guide them to the temple that was 2 days travel way by bus. It was short time for me to complete this task. But i noded and fixed the plan at the same time. I made tickets of all for the same night bus. and started journey. next day morning we reached to the place of temple, we done our worship and prayers. we had lunch and go in room for rest. Coz, our returning ticket was for next day, there was no matter of worry, and that day was planned to have fun and enjoyment all family together. I was thinking to guide them all the city's main places. we ran out for market. when it was 3 pm , i got a call from travel agency, due to some local circumstances bus won't leave tomorrow and it's leaving tonight instead; if we are interested then we can process. Although it was not good for them, it was good for me, coz it was all heared from my god, who creates that environment and make me able to reach at home at time before i may miss my TIKA from elders. So, I sacrified my time for them who were as a guest at my place, and everything happened what was unexpected, that made me very happy. AB_Singh
