Are you a picture taker?

Pic of my kids - This is my kids waiting for a parade to start

Some people see their entire lives behind the lens of a camera, snapping pictures of everything to preserve those memories. Others had rather live in the moment, and rarely, if ever, take pictures of special events. I have a friend who is one of the first people. I'm always amazed to see some of her pictures. I swear her camera must be glued to her hand because she never misses a moment! I think I'm more towards the middle. I do take loads and loads of pictures of my kids, but sometimes I find myself somewhere nice and say "Darn, I wish I had my camera with me right now". I've certainly missed some nice photo opps.

I really try to be a picture taker but it doesn't always seem worth it. I do try to take the camera with us as much as possible though. I will admit that I'm not a good photographer, so none of my pictures really translate the way I want them to. They rarely seem to capture the moment as I saw it. I like to take before and after pictures of projects and renovations but they never look quite as satisfying as they should. It's also a major pain to have a camera in your hand during all your activities!

I don't consider myself a photographer by any means, but I certainly enjoy reminiscing (sp?) about things years after they've been over. You mught change your mind about these things when you have a child. It doesn't matter if it's a bad angle or if the background isn't just perfect, all that matters is that years from then you can look at that picture and remember how cute the baby was during that time, and might even remember bits and pieces about what was going on when you took that pic. Those are the things that matter to me.

I'm sure you're right. I was actually thinking of that when I read the discussion but it never made it into my reply. My nephew is only 10 months old and has probably had a million pictures taken of him - and not one of them is bad!

I don't really take all that many pictures. I used to take pictures more often than I do now. I just like taking pictures so I don't have to be in them.

I'm the same way, only I do get to a point where I begin complaining that I don't have enough pictures of myself.

Yes I do love taking pictures . I live in Mexico in the Yucatan where there is something new and different around every corner . I love taking pictures of nature here . The sunsets are amazing , the wildlife, and plants and flowers are other favorites. I like to keep my camera close by all the time .

I tend to go through stages, one time I am found everywhere with my camera in my hand and then it will be months before I am seen with it again! My hubby commented on it the other day in fact cos he said its been ages since you took any photos. I guess I have been too busy on facebook with farmtown and myzoo hehe. There are just not enough hours in the day really!!

I can go through phases like that too. It wasn't until last week when we were having a picnic at the park when I realized I wished I'd had my camera, so at that point I placed it in my purse so I'd be sure not to forget it next time. I'm better with my digital camera. Before I had that I would really go ages without taking a picture. When my 4th was born I took a bunch of pics at birth, but then none until he was around 6 months old. I missed months and months of his life, poor thing.

I am very much the same as you! Somewhere in the middle. When I was younger I very rarely took pictures. I just wasnt very good at it. I hated spending all of the money to get the film developed just to find out the pictures didnt turn out well! Once I got a digital camera, I began to take more pictures. I didnt have to worry about how the pictures turned out, because I could always take more! That was great for me. My photography has really improved. A little over a year ago, my husband and I got a really nice camera. Now I often find myself wishing I had it with me! There are so many things I would like to take more pictures of but dont always have the camera.

I was like that too before my digital camera. I would always buy cheap disposable cameras which would often ruin my pictures. Especially if my hubby was taking the pic, he always managed to get his fingers in front of the lens. Then he finally bought me a digital, and I'm loving it. The first few months I would take pics of grass just because I loved using it so much.

I can consider me as a picture taker.I always my 3 maga pixels cellphone and 10 mega pixels handy for a quick snap at anything that I like.I have started taking photos from the age of eight.I still remember the wonderful smell of my fresh and new Kodak Camera years back.I wonder what happened to it.Now the subject matter of my camera is my daughter most of the time.I have captured every beautiful moment since her birth till now to her thirteen years.

I admit it, I am the one usually behind the camera. I think it is neat to have a lot of photos and it works for me. I think though that I am working on having someone else be like me and like to take pictures, but the young person I am writing of also loves to be in front of the camera. I think that is a good thing. It is only a five year old little girl. I have a lot of pictures of her. I also have a lot of my other family members and that kind of thing. I do think back in time and wish I had a camera when I was younger and that kind of thing because there are a couple people in my family that I have had to ask other family members for pictures. So I guess I will keep on taking pictures and hardly being in front of it.

I would say I am. Most of the time I carry my camera with me. Each of the older kids (the 3 of them) have their own cameras and often take theirs along to. You never know when you will need or want to take a picture of something or someone. I have TONS of pictures of the kids and stuff playing and doing everyday things. On occasion I will leave mine at home and wish I had grabbed it so I try to throw it in the diaper bag.

Right now, I bring camera in my bag, although I just found out it is low battery so I cannot use it. But I am too lazy to put the camera out of my bag and charge it. I usually bring my camera all the time. There are somem moments that you must not miss to remember and picture can remind you of that events when you looking at the pics later on.

I am also like that love to take pictures whatever the occasion. I want to have a memories out of it thats why I used to do this. Sometimes if I have free time I go over with my pictures and have recollection in it. The time goes on but the memories still their to reminisce.

Taking pictures is an addiction for some, and I would like to add one more thing here that you have a strange sense of satisfaction if the picture comes out very well. That for me is the motivation factor for most.

I'm the type of person that hates taking pictures. If someone is taking a pictuer of me, I turn my head unless I know I am looking good.

i am not photographer, but i like to take a picture. i think every memory should be enshrined. because we are not always remembering exactly. maybe wih photo(s) which we take, we can remember the happened situation at the time. bad or good situation. i always take pictures wherever i am. when i was in prom nite of my junior high school, i took a picture of my friend with her boyfriend. she liked it. then she bought it.

I love taking pictures. Of animals, flowers and vegatables that I grow in my yard. I agree with you about not having your camera with you, when there is a great shot to take. Love taking shots of the sky. Sunsets and Sunrises.

I usually take pictures if something really memorable happens, like when there is a special occasion or when I'm out with someone. I am like you, somewhere in the middle.

i'm not a photografer but i like taking a lot of pictures. That's why i bought a cellphone that have a camera inside. So when i was going out from home i can take a lot of moment with my camera. But with a great resolution of your camera, the picture can be more impressive.

I love taking pictures mostly of nature and I have plans for them. I have some good shots too, and they should bring me a nice pay check.
