What is the best way to take mud stains out of clothes (pants)

If it is only mud sling, it should get washed by detergent. If it doesn't, try liquid lemon. Still stains are not removed, use petrol wash.

Please clarify what colour mud stains you are referring to, as different colours would have to be treated in different ways.
