This was the first weekend my son and his family and I spent at our camper. It's situated in a permanent spot at a campgrounds.....we had alot of company and a very good time! The one thing I think that is so special is that this camp ground is like small town America....people walk by or drive by and wave and say hi or stop to see how you are doing....when you have a campfire going....they bring their chairs and sit down next to you and just visit! It's unbelievable how very friendly everyone is....It almost takes me back to another time when life was so much different. So have you ever went camping? Did you like it and what was the best part of the event to you? I love the friendliness of all the people....it was amazing!

Hey jill! Wow! It's been so many years since I was camping!
I used to love going camping! But, I was very young then and
we used to "rough" it! We didn't have a camper so we used to
go up into the woods or canoeing! It was some of the best
times that I ever had! And you are so right about people being
so friendly! I loved it too! I couldn't do it now because I
am not well enough to "rough" it anymore! But, I am glad that
you were able to enjoy the experience!

Wow!! That is quite an interesting place you are describing. Makes me wish there was a place like that around here we could go run away too from time to time as well. It has been so long since I have been camping. We would have to sleep in a tent, and since we do not own one right now, this is not something we can do that easy. Even with my health it might not be Good as well.
But I do miss the quiet of the outdoors and smelling a Campground fire, etc. and glad that you have a place like this to escape too as well.

So glad to hear you had a good time camping with your family. Sounds like life way back in the '60's.
I'm not a camper. Just don't like being outside that much anymore. The sun doesn't love my skin so I'm better staying inside the a/c. We did camp one time and that was about 34 years ago. Can't even remember where we camped. Maybe it was something I tried to forget..lol

Hey Jill,
My second husband and I used to do some camping. I loved it!! Like you said it's like another world. I really miss the campfires and just the sense of relaxation that comes with it. My favorite part was waking up and having coffee by the campfire. We did most of our camping in the Mountains and by the Ocean. We lived a couple hrs, from Big Sur in California. My favorite site had a beautiful Mountain stream flowing through it with a natural pool to swim in. I do miss those days. Happy Camping!! Hugsss

That sounds awesome! I love to camp and really would love to have a camper. It is fun and I know exactly what you mean by taking you back to another time. I love to cook on fire, I love to rely on the fire for warmth and cooking. I plan on taking my kids very soon. It is fun how everyone waves and says hi, everyone is usually in a pretty good mood ;) Away from traffic and work is alway calming.

im jealous, i love camping . cooking over the fire, just sitting back and enjoying the surroundings, oh there's so much. i keep a few marshmello's around for the skunks that visit the campsite, their not pesty like racoons, they just take the mello and move on.

I grew up in a camping family and those various trips (we always went camping on weekends/holidays/vacations) are amongst the fondest memories I have.
I regret that my husband does not have interest in camping. I think he would relax a bit to get "away from it all"

I spent an entire summer in a tent with 3 small children. You are right...the atmosphere of the campground is so ....like another time. It is awesome. I didn't go camping...I needed to find a place for us to live and this was just a stop=over. The people I met during my stay there...it was awesome...made it more like a vacation which is what I was trying to make it for the kids. It wasn't a bad experience at all...would have been better had it been by choice.

Hi Jill, So pleased to hear you had a great weekend, hope the devilled eggs went down well also. How lovely that the people were so very friendly it would be great if they could be this way in all areas. I haven't been camping for years tend to like luxury more these days but my daughters camp at music festivals and thoroughly enjoy and there also there is a friendliness amongst all the campers. Huggles. Ellie :D

yes, after graduation in High School, my volleyball friends went on a camping beside the beach, we stayed all day morning till the next day. what makes that camping exciting was some of my friends experience abnormal events or should i say creepy things. like they said they had seen a walking black dog during the late nights, the dogs eyes were so bright as if the moon is shining on the eyes of the dog, they stared at the dog coming passed in front of them then after it passed away from were they sat, it disappeared in thin air. i was in the camp back then trying to get some sleep. they went inside the tent and said "let's get the hell out of here". they didn't said a word what's happening, i just known what happened the next morning.
i would like to try that again, what a shame that i haven;t had the chance to see it with my own eyes.

My husband and I are both wildlife biologists, so it kind of goes without saying that we enjoy camping.
We wander through the woods, looking for critters. I love to hike, so I will sometimes take the dogs and we will go on a day-hike somewhere.
I grew up camping with my parents. And I remember it being about the same as you have described it - friendly people everywhere! I always made new friends every time I went. We even went fishing with people that camped next to us. We would borrow food items, or share fire wood. It truly is a different world, and one that makes us appreciate the simple things in life.
Just being out in nature and being friendly with everyone just makes you feel good, doesn't it?

I went to a few campsites in Europe as a family trip and I really enjoyed the visit. Well, we all enjoyed ourselves, but my son is too young to remember those moments, so there are pictures and short videos of us there. And what a coincidence my husband and myself were looking at them yesterday, so as soon as I saw your discussion, I decided to reply!
We don't have a camper, we have a tent and equipment and drive through the a campsite then pitch our tent. It's so nice to have your spot. My husband loves to travel light but I love looking at all the camping equipment people have. I have seen big campers with boats or attached motorcycles (If they plan to visit out of the campsite, they can go with the bike which is easier to park in cities). I have seen campers with satellite systems and they seemed like an extension to the home. Camping, and meeting people there, is a nice experience.

Well, now I go camping in a motor home or a cabin as sleeping on the ground is a big no no for my bones and musles. But my friends Mom and Dad have cabins up North that they rent out so mite go there this summer. Or we go to my Moms and just go to the lake and fish. She lives in a small town so it is fun. YOu have a good day. Your friend onlydia
