Do you "believe" in evolution?

The only faith that is required to believe in evolution is that the universe follows its own laws and that because of these laws, predictions can be accurately made, tested, and observed. Also, one must have faith that not all scientists are incompetent and/or dishonest. That's pretty easy to have faith in. Scientists are human and fallible. However, it is completely disingenuous to think that all scientists are out to achieve the same goal, share the same biases, or have the same corrupting influences. This makes the conspiracy theories that creationists often cite about academia rather unbelievable, as well as highly unlikely. That said, there is evidence for evolution in all fields of science. There is no evidence for any other theory, such as literal creationism or ID. As for ID, it is just a Trojan Horse for creationism to be taught in school. How do we know this? Google "The Wedge Document."Evolution is not a religion, because one can believe in God, Jesus, or any of the Gods in human history and still believe in evolution. So, if evolution is a religion, it is a poorly defined one.

Hi, karpatzio! And welcome to myLot! The short answer to your question is "yes". Now, to explain a little. I do believe in the theory of evolution, that is, as life progressed through the hundreds of millions and billions of years since life first appeared on this planet, different families of plants and animals slowly changed (evolved) in response to environmental changes that would allow the species to survive. Our fossil record is far from complete, and may never be. But science can fairly interpolate between two fossils of vastly different ages to see the progression of the change. Your statement that one can believe in evolution and still believe in God, Jesus, or any other god. For me, evolution is being proved as a tool that God used to get the plants and animals we now have in this world.

Yes I believe in evolution because it is the most common sense way of thinking on how everything on earth started if we were to base it all on reasoning and applied principles.

yeah sky it is true, or at least sort of. Humans themselves never had tails (with the exception of a few genetic mutants here and there), but some of our ancient ancestors probably did.

Was it true that humans used to have tails?

No, I do not believe in evolution. Evolution is a naturally occurring and easily observed process that that has been taking place since life first appeared on this planet that we call Earth. Evolution is not something that requires belief. Evolution is not a theory nor is it a religion. Early Greek philosophers noted evolution and the acceptance of the fact that it is occurring has been around ever since. Charles Darwin, contrary to popular opinion, produced no "Theory of Evolution". In his book "Origin of the Species" he proposed a theory that credited natural selection as the mechanism that was the driving force of evolution. He did not put fourth a theory of evolution because the idea of evolution was already widely accepted.

Ditto! I was going to post a response at the end, but after reading what you wrote, I couldn't have said it better myself. Evolution is widely accepted and has been for some time. It isn't for us to "believe" or "not believe." It simply is. Thanks for your intelligent and well-written post!

Yes I believe in evolution but I also believe in God. I believe creatures were created and eventually evolved into what we know today as people, familiar animals, etc. I think some take it overboard saying that we were created from particles in the air that magically created life then we evolved but I do believe some sort of evolution occurred and is occurring. However, I do not believe evolution is a religion.

I consider creation a possibility but am not a devout believer in being created by god.I completly believe in evolution it is a seamless proven scientific phenomenon that is even being effected by scientists enginering with lifeforms and being sucessful in achieving the target progress and results equal to there hypothesis.Corn for example is completly engineered. Therefore evolution exists and is 100% sureal.

Evolution???? Are you kidding?? Ofcourse I don't believe in evolution. Evolution is an unproven theory, meaning it's just someone's guess(Darwin's) and not a good guess at that! I have no idea why in our educated society, people have been teaching this guess as fact. You'd have a eaiser time proving the existance of the Tooth Fairy, I mean, there is that money under your pillow when you leave your tooth right(LOL)!! LOLOL

Evolution is not a theory. Evolution has been regarded a a fact ever since the time of the heyday of Greek philosophy. Darwin did not propose a "Theory of Evolution". His theory suggested that natural selection was how evolution worked. In Darwin's time evolution was regarded as a fact just as it is now. The reason our educated society is teaching evolution as a fact is because it is. If you want to understand how the natural world works you must understand how things evolve.

Heck No!!!!!!!! Evolution is a theory, there is NO PROOF to sustain it yet for some reason it has been pushed in our public schools for so many years as true and as science. Are you kidding, it takes more faith to believe in Evolution than it does to believe in Santa Clause. LOL I mean really Where is the MISSING LINK? LOL HAHAHAHA. Evolution(that's a hoot!)

It is quite convincing for intelligent beings, and it is also useful in other fields that use its immense power to develop medicine, algorithms and even mathematical proof so... yeah it should be taught at schools.

Hello, good morning, let me joint your discussion. I do believe in evolution but at limited grade, such as my grand grand father changed phycically up to his grand grand children. But I doubt that monky evoluted to be human being means that we all come from a kind of monkey descent. it will need and involve very much genous / genetic mutations. I trust evolution whithin race or tribes, see my son is more handsome than me, his noose is better etc. I read karl Jaspers that combines evolutions with creation, where God created human through evolution process, not like what told at the Bible litterally, humna was created directly from dust. Of course I dont believe that evolution is religion also, it is only a kind of scientific branche, from anthropology and perhaps also influenced by others biological science.

I believe in God and in evolution! I believe God created the heavens and the earth. We don't know how long a day was for God. I don't think it was 24 hrs! A day to God could been billion or millions of years! This is how I look at evolution! How else do you believe in God,explain dinosaurs, evolution of man, evolution of animals and lots of lots of other things! It is just my theory and don't care what others think! It has taken me years to believe in what I believe and no one will change that!

Yes, Believe in resolution, i trust that this world will go to destroy. All are human being using all the natural products like soil(for mobile), So the natural products getting reduced. So the world oceans will get deeper. How this was created and thats the same way this will get destroy, So i feel that there is no other option that world wont destroy.

I do believe in evolution, there has been ample scientific research that has been proven correct to support that theory. evolution is not a religion, there is no holy ground, building or text.
