What do you say to a debutante?

Its my first time to be invited to a debutante's ball and the debutante told me to give a "speech"

I personally wouldn't know what to say seeing as I'm not completely sure what a debutante's ball is. Where I'm from we have nothing like that so it's not what I'm used to. If I were invited, because it sounds very interesting, I would be honored my self. Now, for a speech though, I would be horrible. I wish you luck with your speech though!
