Hi.. I came into a situation that I ran short of cat litter before payday and so was looking a way to expand the litte I have.. lol so .I looked around..didnt have baking soda..but had rice..grains of rice..
There I was pouring rice into the litter box and did you know .it really did the job.. it stretched the little sand out some..
I then read about putting newspaper in the box..only my cat Missy shoveled it all out.
What are some naturals that you know can be put in litter box?

I never would have thought of rice. I don't think it would be very absorbent, so after a day or so the odor would probably get really bad and it would be hard to clean.
Some cats will use sand (like the kind from outside). But if you use dirt or sand from outdoors, you should sterilize it first to kill bugs and bacteria and such. To do that, you put a pan of dirt in your oven on low heat for a while until it dries out and is warm all the way through.
I'm currently using an all-natural cat litter that is made from corn. It works ok, but I'm still looking for something better. There is also cat litter made from pine shavings, and a lot of people seem to like it.
