Are they real situations, especially the latter?
It seems that a university with well-known fame has more funds, more donations, more big shots makespeeches or lectures, and its graduates will be more easily recognized by competitive corporations.
Now some firms use the rate of colleges as one basic standards to hire emplyees.
It's unfair,is it?

Think about it this way, if a university is famous, then it will ensure that only the talented can enter (more people will choose the university and thus it can pick those talented). This means that there is a better chance that the graduates from this university are more capable than others.
So, if you are an employer, thousands of similar resumes fly in and you only have that limited amount of time to do interviews, wouldn't you bet on those graduated from this university and interview them first?
Also, having entered a university (and a famous one) would mean that you will be likely to see more alumni when you are out in the society. That doesn't always give you a lot of advantages but when it comes to competition, even a little bit of advantage may mean success or failure.
