I am talking about a sound that chills your blood or makes your heart beat faster. I have several sounds that panic me. First, is a cry of a child in pain or distress. I also hate the sound of anyone in pain.
I hate the sound of a car accident. That awful thump when you are rear ended by someone or see another car accident. I also hate the osund of shots being fired from a gun.
wWat kind of sounds do you hate?

The worst sound I've ever heard was that of a sliding glass door shattering, it happened just two houses across from mine, a child ran through it. The other would have to be a phone call in the middle of the night, for the most part it usually means something is wrong somewhere. However, I have learned to not be so apprehensive about late night/early morning phone calls, my fiance is a structural firefighter, and our personal protocol is that he calls me, no matter what time, if he gets toned out for a fire, and then he calls me upon returning to station. For the moment we are in different states, so while we are apart, that is the rule I told him, so I know when he's on a fire and when he returns safely to station. I am also a firefighter, wildland, so I do know the risks and dangers he faces anytime he is on an incident.

I had one of those calls at 1230 am as he was responding to a wreck with entrapment, he is one of only two with extrication qualifications at his station. And even though it was not a fire, things can and do sometimes go wrong on any type of incident. He called me back 2 hours later as he was returning to station. It also helps knowing that I understand all too well what he does and he can talk about the incidents he goes on, even the ones that don't turn out well for the injured.

Slidingf doors have caused so many accidents. why can't people put a stcker or decaL so that p[eople notice that it is not open? I can understand about you wanting your fiance to call you both on leaving and returning from a fire. You both must be wonderful people. Good luck

The worst sound that I ever heard was when my son was gasping for air... When he was six months old he pierced his tongue... I was a young mother and was not willing to listen to reason... He had a floor mat with toys that were hanging way too high, so I took a small bunge cord and lowed the toy, not thinking about the hook... Thats the worst sound that I ever heard, and I never want to hear it again.. My son recovered just fine. Thank God for small mircales.

That is something that I am working on.. I just want to do the best for my son.. His father, well isnt one of those poster dads, needless to say. I just would like my son to have a happy childhood.. And sometimes I just get stressed out about the stupidest things... I am still accepting the fact that I will make mistakes.. I guess I am just worried that for some reason I am going to fail my son, by not doing something, or going to far. Still looking for that happy middle ground.

for me, my cat had three kittens, and I heard her or one of the males killing one of the babies, I will never get that screaming out of my ears for as long as I live. By the time I got to the kitten it was way too late.

I hate the sound of loud arguments. Two adults screaming at eachother or an adult screaming at a child. I don't know if it is because my parents did that when I was younger or if it is because I have been guilty of it also...but I completely tense up when I hear someone in a heated and loud argument.
The sound of a car crash is also a bad one for me.
I haven't been around a child screaming in pain that was any more than a relatively minor injury. When I hear a child crying like that I'll get a little pang and thing "awww poor kid" but it doesn't go much beyond that...My son fractured his elbow when he was little, but his crying/yelling wasn't any worse than any of his regular bumps and bruises.

I had forgotten the sound of people arguingt. I hated that as a child and would run out of the house. My son had a cvery bad accident and that just tore me up. when I hear a child crying then I remember him (and possibly remember myself when I suffered from physical abuse)

This is a really good discussion and I am sure that different people have different opinions when it comes to sounds and what sounds they do not like,I am sure that some people do not like a sound, while others might like the sound, and I can understand why you would not like to hear a child cry out in pain or distress or anyone else in pain or the sound of a car accident,I am not sure what the worst sound I have every heard is even though I know one of the ones I can not stand is nails on a chalk board because that makes my teeth hurt and my skin crawl, and another sound I can not stand is the sound of a dentist scraping on my teeth because that always makes me cringe, and I guess another sound that I do not like is the sound of someone screaming because it always makes me sad that someone is hurting and it makes me feel sick, have a great day, good luck with your life, and all your mylotting goals, and Happy Posting.

I remeber the nails on the chalk board and it so put my teeth on edge. I wear ear plugs or listen to music as I cannot bear going to the dentist. It is awful and I am so scared. We all have our phobias. Thanks for responding

The worst sound is when the stray dogs bark at the wee hours in the morning. Aww its awful. Then there is this sound, but I don't know how to explain it in words,
You know when you are slapped, very hard right below your ears there is this humming sound which makes all other outside noise go blur, god thats very disgusting.
Hope I was able to explain the sound I am talking about. LOL.

Is it a ringing sound? I know that one. What is worse is if an insect - bug - goes into your ears. It flaps its wings and it is so awful. It happened to me once and I did not know what to do until my husband came home. He poured warm oil in the ear and this killed the insect and also helped for the binsect to exit my ear. It was so bad!

I have heard all kinds of sounds in my life I think, the worst sound that I ever heard was the noise from the construction site of the university which is near to the dormitory where I used to live nearby. That sound was really disturbing as it runs 24/7 as I can't really sleep at night. There are times that the noise was like a very loud beeping sound of a car in the middle of the night. I used to have sleepless nights because of that... that's why I decided to move into a new place since its not healthy anymore for me. Its been two months ago since I have moved, but the construction is not yet done and I am happy that I have moved... for good.

Hello there if you would asked what is the worst sound I've ever heard is the sound of my niece shouting near my ears. It is like a sound of a whistle bomb exploding inside my ears. Another is the sound of a motor which is very loud it irritates my ears. I don't also like the sound of our roof when something fall to it. And the last is the sound of my classmates or relatives who is chatting or sometimes arguing when I'm watching t.v that is so so disturbing.

i think i hate the sounds of smoking cars, especially if i am in the car or i am the one driving such a car, it makes my heart beat faster and sometimes i just feel like throwing the car into the ocean, it makes me sicker if the car start making noise in the middle of the road and there is no auto mechanic shop around

There are many sounds which we heard that make you feel bad.
As you mention the sound of child crying is very bad to listen.
Sound of drill machines use to drill wooden and metal works.
Sound of animal in pain.
Loud music.

I think the worst sound I ever heard was the combination of hearing the toilet flush closely followed by my 19-month-old daughter saying, "oops!" Talk about scary.

I know what you mean. My sons would always flush their briefs down the toilet during the potty training period. Now I am coping with my nearly 3 year old grand twins doingt he same thing. Well - only the boy as the girl has not yet done it.

I don't know why they allow people with cancer to suffer so much. when my father had cancer the doctor told me that he would become easily addicted to morphine if he had it too soon. I just did not get it. So what if he became addicted? The man was dying! People should be allowed to control their own pain with as much medication as they need. I sometimes get so angry. I pray to God that I will not die of cancer. having heart tersts tomorrow to find out extent of damage so please pray for me.Many blessings

I know this might sound weird, but I hate the sound of bones snapping. You know like in films where they might be attacking someone, and they snap their bone?
The worst one that gets me at the moment is in the film Twilight, when James stamps on Bella's leg and you can hear it snap. That sound goes right through me, and I always fast forward that scene when I'm watching the film on my own!

Well for me its noise pollution and dust always set me off. The horn noises of buses and lorries and train are really irritating!
