Should I get glasses or contacts?

I'm a 29 year old female pilot who has had 20/20 vision for my entire life. Earlier this week I went in for my annual eye exam and didn't do too well, so I have to go in for a followup visit next week. I've never had to wear glasses or anything before, so if I do poorly and my doctor says I need glasses I don't know if I should pick contacts or regular glasses. I do think I would look pretty cute with glasses, but how much of a pain are contacts? I've never worn them before. Are they hard to put in? There's a little more info about my dilemma at my blog here: http://www.bloglines.com/blog/jbasset5566 And I got my eye exam coupons here: http://www.eyeexamcoupon.com Oh, last question: I'm a brunette with brown eyes. If I were to get contacts, how do those ones that change your eye color work? I've always wanted blue eyes.

I have both. It really is a personal choice. Which I wear truly depends on my mood. I never bought the colored ones. Some of those (in my opinion) just don't look like colors found in nature. One suggestion. If you decide to go the glasses route try on more than a few pair. And then get 2 pair. They really can be a fashion accessory, have FUN with it.

I've been wearing my glasses for almost 10 years and have never felt like switching to contacts. The main reason is that almost every contact lens user complaints about it. They either forget to remove it before going to bed or forget to clean it. I travel on a two wheeler and i feel the dust particles would stick to the lens and the worst thing is i cant rub my eyes with the contacts on! Glasses have become a part of my personality itself. However, in your case you need to think of your profession also. If you want your hands to be free while driving then you may want to opt for lens. I'm a software professional and so i'm fine with glasses.

i wear glasses since i was 15. i prefere glasses not contacts, cause i really don't like to put something foreign to my eyes. and also because i suffer of a kind of allergy to dust and i have often red and tired eyes, so my doctor suggests me to do not use contacts. i have pink glasses at the moment, and i really like them!

Now a days contact lenses are so famous and fashionable. But others are more handsome and cute women wearing eyeglasses. Depend upon your style on your good looking aura. You can select the best for you!

Hi. I have worn glasses half of my life. I tried contact lenses, and they were hard to get in my eyes. I have astigmitism which makes wearing some brands of contacts difficult. For some reason, my doctor prescribed hard contact lenses. I would suggest for you to ask about soft contact lenses. They should be more comfortable and easy to put on, plus they are disposable. If you lose a pair, then you would have others. I usually wear my glasses because they are the easiest to deal with in the mornings. I like transition lenses because they can turn into sunglasses when I need them. However, the downside is that transition lenses are more expensive than contact lenses. I guess the decision will be what best suits your lifestyle. If you choose contact lenses, make sure you use the best products, especially drops that will soothe dry eyes. At least, with disposable contact lenses you will not have to clean them at night.

Well both are good. I have been using both for about 7 years now and I don't have a problem with both. When I was new to contact lenses I use get scared of it but I learnt to use it in just two days. Now I wear glasses when I am at home or go to the market but when I go for some special occasions then I use contact lenses. I find both comfortable though lenses are more comfortable for me as glasses can be a bit irritating sometimes. If you like to have blue eyes then you can order the blue color lenses with your eye site number so its two in one, you get blue eyes and you can get rid of glasses at the same time.

My advice to anyone is not to get contacts. I used to wear contacts and now my eyes are permanantly scarred and I have to wear glasses for the rest of my life anyway! Contacts are dangerous. If you get them, make sure you know how to properly use them and take care of them!

I was under the impression that most pilots opt for contact lenses because it gives them a better field of view. Glasses tend to block your peripheral views. Some of the popular glasses now are quite small in area too. I have never worn contacts, but my sister did all her life until now, she can no longer wear them. I would certainly try some out, I think if you can get some free trial disposable lenses it would not even cost you anything. I understand contacts in the long run are more expensive, but so are glasses, which need periodical replacement. Have you considered laser surgery? I understand they have eleminated the night fuzziness now. If I had lots of money I would certainly look into lasik procedures.

Should I get glasses of contacts? Hello Jbasset, I've heard that just about everyone's eyesight begin to change as we age. I used to have 20/20 vision but the last time I went to the doctor they suggested that start wearing reading glasses. I am one of those people that happen to think that wearing eyeglasses can make a person look smarter. While I hear that contacts are a pain in the but until you get used to them I believe that eye glasses are almost just as bad because they are a pain just trying to keep up with. I now have about three pairs so I'm always able to find a pair when I'm in need. Hope you make the best decision for you! Good luck, happy mylotting!

I have worn contacts since the 8th grade they're not hard to use after you get use to them. It just depends on you really. Like I use disposable contacts where them for a week and then throw them away and put in a new pair. I did wear the year long one but they kept getting torn easy and it's just easier to get disposable. I also have glasses to wear when I'm just to lazy to put in my contacts. I'd say get both for you and see which ones you like better. Some people have a big problem putting their finger near their eye and they freak out. The doctor's nurse will show you how to put them in and coach you the best they can before you leave their office.

I had both, at the start contacts wasn't very easy to put in, but over time I got used to it. The good thing about contacts is they don't get dirty and annoy your nose and ears, but they can easily get lost and take a long time to put in. I like glasses more though, is is very fast to put on and don't bother your eyes when you mode a mistake while putting it in. Good luck.

I really feel like I can see better with contacts than I can with my glasses. I also get frustrated with my glasses slipping off since I tend to be a fairly active person. Contacts are completely worth the little bit of frustration they give me. It is a personal choice though. The eye color contacts work by having a colored part which covers your iris as far as I know. I've never worn them or known of someone who did, but I'd assume this is how they work.
