Should children be Spanked?

I think that both parents should agree on the best way, to discipline their children. I definitely think children should be spanked as a form of discipline and that the principals should have this option in our schools.

I think kids should be spanked, by their parents, maybe grandparents, aunts or uncles, or other family members like that, but no stranger is going to spank my kids. And let's face it a principal is nothing but a stranger, cause how well do your kids really know their principals? In five years they won't remember their names, what they look like? You don't know their birthdate, chances are they are a stranger.

I understand your point but I still feel that if this were offered as an option in our schools today, beginning in elementary, that there would be less need for suspensions, metal detectors, and police officers.

Metal detectors and police officers are needed in our schools not because kids didn't receive their spankings, they are because of incidents like Virginia Tech or Columbine, in case you've forgotten. And detention and suspensions would still exist with or without spankings. It would just be one more tool, one more repucssion teachers would use, one more consequence, another level so to speak of. For isntance, first time you're in trouble, a verbal warning, second time, a written warning, third time, detention, fourth time a spanking, fifth time a letter home to parents, etc, etc...You think you can just spank a kid and call it good? HA, that's funny. So no need for parents to ground children or send them to their rooms either, just give em a good spanking, and let them go on about their day. What an easy childhood that would've been...

I hope nobody gets offended but we are all here to state our opinions, right?
I will have to disagree. I was a child who even as an adult RESENTED my own mother because of all the "spankings". I have two wonderful teenager daughters that have turned out to be well disciplined, Christian girls and I NEVER had to lay a hand on them. If however, someone still feels they just must spank their child, then I guess one spank on the bottom (not out of anger, of course) should suffice.

I too was spanked as a child and I didn't resent my Mom, but when I came of age, I called her and thanked her for the way I was raised. I didn't understand my discipline as a child, but I appreciate the discipline, because it was in love and helped to make me the person that I am today.
