I really love to read, but I'm having trouble picking a new book to start. I love many different types of books as long as they are interesting. Does anyone have any suggestions? Have you read any good books lately? Why did you enjoy the book you read? Please let me know.

It is really hard to recommend a book because you give no indications of what kinds of books you like! So instead, I will just tell you what I am reading.
I am currently starting the 8th book of the Sword of Truth Series by Terry Goodkind. They are simply amazing! I never thought I would like fantasy books. My husband finally convinced me to start reading them about a year ago. I have loved them the whole time!
One of the advantages is that there are plenty of books in the series and none of the books are short. So you will have plenty of reading material for quite a while!

Thanks for the suggestion! I read almost every genre of book. I haven't found a genre that I don't like so far. Fantasy, romance, historical, mystery, biography, informative, fantasy, and much more. I just love to read. I really love series too! Sword of Truth sounds pretty interesting to me.

They really are quite good! It seems strange, in some ways, but I have also learned a lot of good life leassons from them!

In the Lake of the Woods by Tim O'Brien was amazing. It will really make you think. I loved it because you could kind of decide what happened towards the end. The Sunday List of Dreams was also a really good book, and so ws The Traveling Funneral of Annie Freeman (I think) both of these were by Kris Radish. The way she writes is really good, and her story ideas were different. I also reccomend Bag of Bones by Stephen King. It is not his typical type of horror novel, it is more on the supernatural side... it's long but will certianly hold your interest. The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova was the first book I read for my book club and it was awseome too I would recommend it to anyone. I am also a fan of true crime and would recommen anything by Anne Rule. I could go on and on!

Thanks for the book list! In the Lake of the Woods sounds good because I like books that make you think. I actually was thinking about reading Bag of Bones. I heard it was good. I never heard of Anne Rule before, but I'll look into her now. Thanks for the help!

I'm a science fiction fan, so that's where I normally suggest books.
I'm a big Anne McCaffrey fan, Mercedes Lackey is another good one, Orson Scott Card isn't 100% but most of his stuff is alright, I really enjoy S.M. Stirling's Island on the Sea of Time trilogy and recently finished his In the Court of the Crimson Kings that I can recommend, and then Robert J. Sawyer, I haven't read a dud yet from him, can really recommend his Hominid trilogy.

I suggest reading "player piano" by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. It's a quick read and will blow your mind. Hopefully if you haven't been bitten by the Kurt bug this book will help it happen. My favorite Vonnegut books are "Mother Night" , "Slapstick" and "The Sirens of Titan". I hope this helps.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've never really read Vonnegut before, but I think now is a great time to start. I think I never read his books before because they tried to force us to read them in high school. I guess I was just being rebellious at the time.
