I travel frequently and the first time I had to pay 5$ for headphones I flinched a little.. and then they took away snacks, and then they took away the basic peanuts and pretzels and then they started charging for drinks! and now to check your first piece of luggage is 17$!! I just wonder what next! a coin operated toilet. I will really be upset if they start charging for carseats etc, that would be horrible for any parent traveling with small children! I hope lap infants stay free a little longer!

i know you dont want to hear this but as long as we have terrorists and are exporting from overseas then things will just get more and more expensive the only thing we can do is be successful in life so that we dont need to call things pricey or expensive

My son has just celebrated his second birthday. The airline charged 10% of the fare when I flew with him London to Cape Town. He did get a free baggage allowance of 10kg. So I was happy with that. My baggage allowance was 25kg so that was generous too. We went on a budget airline from Bristol to Riga last year and the extra baggage charges were awfully expensive. The snacks and drinks were free going to South Africa but going to Latvia they cost money. I hate the fact that bottles of water can't pass through security and bottled water at the airport is expensive. I am am experienced traveler and I can see some airlines are making up all kinds of extra charges.

I hear your pain. Seriously, it is insane. I don't fly often. Typically about once a year. But each year I notice how it changes. I can't believe what they get away with charging for these days. With how much you pay for a ticket the least they can do is give you a can of soda and a few pretzels. Or a pair of cheap-o headphones. It's CRAZY!! My fiancee and I are going on our honeymoon in June - I can't wait to see what's changed when we fly then!
