is it true that too much medicine intake can affect childrens behavior?

my nephew has asthma and he takes a lot of medication.like antihistamine,he takes is almost his life :) now he easily gets mad..and if you scolded him because he has done somthing wrong, he shouts back at you, and we cant discipline him anymore as if like he doesnt want to..is this true?
