The first cat I can remember us owning was called Marley. It was a female cat. We were kids and I do not know how we came up with that name.
There was a gold cat called Goldie. It was a gold colored male cat.
Another huge male cat called Sammy who just found himself here and made himself at home.
Now there is Tiger who decided he didn't like his home next door so he moved in like Sammy did. My nephew gave him that name because he looks like a tiger with his stripes and all.
I do not think they are particularly cute names but for the most part it just seemed to suit the cats personality or how it looked.
How about you? What are some of the names you chose for your cats both past and present?

yeah, well, before Sassy was Sassy, she was named Blacky; Gabby is named after Xena's companion; Taj is actually Ta Shuah; Rygel and Zhaan are both names from the TV show Farscape; Star got her name because she was once called a "Siamese colored meatorite"

I wonder why we tend to name our pets after famous characters. I'm so sure there was a time we had a pet who reminded us of a TV character. We would just look at him that character would pop right into our heads so thats what we named it. Wish I could remember exactly who its was.
That was a laugh. It just naturally evoked laughter even from people who came by and learnt the name of that pet.

Now you take the lead in The Cat Owners Show at the moment.
I can not imagine ever having so many cats even throughout my entire life if I should live to 80 yrs.
Sassy in a repeat name. I like that one. Taj I also like, Gabby I think I came across somewhere. Maybe a cat I met before.
Thanks for sharing and Happy cat tending.

Most of my life, I always hated cats. Thought dogs were more loveable, more playful, and more of a companion. Then my son came home one day with a 4 week old pure white kitten, and asked me if he could keep it. How do you say "no" to something so adorable. The first name we gave it was "Michael", after a dear friend of mine, but then we found out it was a girl, so we had to change it to "Mickey". For the most part, Mickey was independent, kept to herself, only until she wanted food, and then she became mean and grouchy until you put food in her plate. But she was the cleanest cat I know...as a white cat, she was never dirty. She lived to be 18 yrs old, and both my son and I cried our eyes out as we had her put to sleep. Swore I would never get another pet, because I couldn't handle the loss. 15 yrs later, I am now the owner of a beautiful rust color cat...named "Pooh". Pooh came to our door looking for a home, and the sucker I am, I welcomed her in. The day that she jumped on my lap to be patted and cuddled with, was the day that I changed my mind about cats. She sleeps with me everynight, and begs for rub downs and scratches behind her ears. She is the most loveable pet we've had. But, I fear the inevitable...she is well over 10 years, and we see her slowing down. She is already blind in one eye from a cateract. The day that we have to put her down, will be a sad day for all of us, and then I will swear again, not to take in another animal.

I don't have a cat myself. My sister adopted a white Persian cat when she graduated college and moved to California. She named the cat Bewitched because the cat had one blue eye and one green eye.
One of my neighbors has two cats who like to hang out on my back porch once in a while. I don't know their names, but I refer to them as Butterscotch and Marshmallow.

I have only seen cats like your sister's own, Bewitched on TV. Must be pretty interesting to look at.
I didn't want another cat just yet but Tiger decided this is where he wanted to be and my nephew and brother decided he should stay.
Hands down. I got to just comply
Happy mylotting jtr

Sorry to hear of your medical condition hanah.
My nephew also has asthma and is apparently allergic to the cat though he loves to play with him. We had to stop him from doing so. He is okay now. If things did not improve we would have to have given away the cat some how or ask the original owners take it back.
It is nice to have a pet.

As a child I had a tiger cat with white paws and we called her Sneakers. We found a female kitten only a few weeks old abandoned in our yard 2 years ago. We bottle fed her and she is healthy and strong, we named her Muffin, my 3 year old daughter calls her Muffy.

My first cat was a black female cat and I called her Sassy.
I got another cat later on, and her name was Sassy II.
The two cats my mother had, one female, one male was: Sheena and Tuxxy.
The cat I got from her wildy mommy, I call her Dianna after the hunting goddess... Though she was that way when she was younger... Well... Erm... She more so just hisses at things and then runs and hides. lol

We've had quite a few cats. The two we have now are named cali and bali. Cali is a calico and I just thought it was adorable. Bali we named to rhyme with her. Some past cats have been belle belle, sugar, snowball, and pixie.
