I currently live in Ohio and visit South Carolina every year, sometimes twice a year. I love it, the whole entire state! We usually visit Myrtle Beach and travel all over the coastal part of the state just looking around. I want to live there, I can see myself having a better life there. If you were me, would you pick up and move from Ohio to South Carolina to start a whole new life? Whats state laws, taxes, etc. in the state like?

I love it here. I am farther down the coast line near the Georgia boarder. I love the beach only being a few minuates away. Me and the kids go at least once a week.
My advice. Have a job lined up BEFORE you get here and a place to stay. You don't want to get here and then try to find one. It might take you a while.

You don`t want to move here!I live in myrtle beach and I`m from new england and I can not wait to get out of this area.Oh its nice the first year or two when everything is new but after awhile it gets boring and old most of the people here moved here for the beach but nobody ever gets there but once or twice a year,The traffic gets insane and theres only so many ways to get in or out of the beach, the myrtle beach council and mayor are chasing away the tourists and raising the taxes to make up for the tourist they chased away. Its hot as hell the other day it was 98 with 100 percent humitity which gets old fast, the bugs never die you will always have to be spraying for roaches, termites and red ants and they are hard to kill.Nothing here is free the parks are a joke compared to where I`m from, and the crime is unbelievable and are unemployment rate right now is at 11.8 percent we are the 4th highest in the united states.I`ve been to ohio many times and if I was you I`d stay where your at.

Not if you don't have a job lined up, and a decent affordable place to live. Or, at least someone to stay with short term while you get on your feet...

I second what the above poster said about having a job. I'm in the middle of hopefully moving here in a few weeks and I don't have a job in the city that I'm moving to which in part is making it hard to move in the first place. Many places won't rent to movers without employment. If you have a lot of money in savings, you could consider it, or if you do know someone there, then I would definitely see if living with them until you get situated is possible.
Moving without a job is not a good idea at all. It's just asking for trouble.
