i would prefer the train as it all the more comfortable,as it has basic facilities in the train itself like the washbasin,restroom,canteen,etc........sitting for long would break my back,i avoid travelling by bus as far as possible.(though my hubby says it doesnt make much of a difference,i cannot see his point.)

Riya! I agree with you that train journeys for covering longer distances are better than bus journeys. Given the choice, I would not like to go on a bus on a long journey, as one cannot sleep, relax or go to washroom to relieve himself. In train, you feel much more comfort and you can enjoy your food and snacks. You can talk to your fellow passengers and conveniently pass your time. In trains you do not get pulls and jerks as you get while traveling on a bus, due to some poor roads here in India.

Yes, I agree with you that scenery which we get to see, when we travel through trains, are really worth admiring and worth watching. I love watching big green fields and forests, while sitting in the moving train.

I have never tried traveling through train... since the one here in my area closed down years ago... but there is a project that would revive the train industry... they are starting to clear the tracks... and hopefully in 5 years... we will be able to enjoy this mode of transportation... and i can finally compare which is better... a train ride or a bus ride...

hi Even i prefer the train for long journeys.we can even opt for buses, but that makes us very tired and we cannot sit for long hours.whereas in train,we can even sleep in the berth and can relax and there are more chances meeting up with new people and making friends with them. happy mylotting

Train is my choice. It is always a great experience travelling on rails. It is a thing that has been taken as a serious business abroad. They are good at making the train journeys memorable. We have to go a long way still to improve the quality of the train journeys here. With the milling crowd and ever increasing population it is a near impossible task in our country. You can see the best international train journeys here. http://www.greatrail.com/

Personally due to having Arthritis, etc. overall if I have to travel a longer distance, for me, it definately is by Train. I am also diabetic and find I have a lot of issues by not being able to get up and move around from time to time. Plus I enjoy having a little more space to move around in as well. And have you ever noticed anymore for a lot of times, the Train is not much more cost wise as well.

If its choice between a bus journey and train journey I would surely opt for the train. It is much more convenient than a bus.As you have said you can use the basic facilities available.Bus is very uncomfortable for long journeys you can't even move just sit in one place for hours. In a train atleast you can lie down and put your feet up.When I have to sit like that for hours its terrible for me.Of'course travelling by flight would any day be the best as it saves you of a lot of time. But the cost factor is there. When its something very important then I don't look at the cost.My other option would be to travel by car.Atleast we can stop and use the toilets wherever possible.

The most important thing is there must be a comfortable seat. As long as I have my privacy, bus or train does not really matter much. However, I still prefer the train due to the availability of the restrooms.

I have never taken a bus or a train for any type of journey-short or long I don't think. I take cars for everything and once a plane and a subway. I think if I had the option though and did not have to get there in a hurry I would love to take a train one day. I think that is something I need to do before I die. The train sounds awesome plus it is cheaper right? Yeah, I would totally take a train if I could.

I like bus in a long travel. But sometimes when bad things comes like the hijackers and holdups are dangerous on board. That's the sad bad things in the bus travel specially in the remote areas in other countries but now lessen due to just terminal pick up passengers and check all belonging to avoid taking a deadly weapons on board.

Here in my place train is not available but if it is here might be I ride the train. So nothing can choose here except to ride the bus for long trip. I wish I can experince the beauty of riding it someday when I can go to other places.I think it is enjoyable and nice.

To be the most comfortable way to travel on long journeys is by train. Buses tend to bounce over the roads, yet the train goes faster and much smoother over rail tracks. Also, in the train, I can get up from time to time to stretch my legs and this makes a big difference when sitting for longer periods of time. - Derek

I found it more comfortable in buses to travel in long distance (train here is not use for long distance travel, Phils). The bus doesn't have facilities like restrooms but it has stopover too for the passengers to eat, to go to the restrooms, and i enjoyed my travel using bus as the means of transportation. Train is more comfortable in short distance to avoid traffic.

I prefer train anytime due to the various advantages u mentioned above.I dislike bus journeys as i get dizzy/headace and sometimes puke a lot and the afternath leaves me inactive for long hours. Its train for me..inspite of the dirty toilets and crampped compartments (here in india).

Hi riyasam, i would definitely prefer going by train as it is much more comfortable . I am not too keen on long bus journeys, use it for short distance or for overnight journeys. I have loved travelling by train since my childhood so there are a lot of pleasant memories attached to it.

I love the train but too bad we don't have it on our way to the province which is usually 13-hour bus drive. I would really love to ride on one... it feels different to have sit in a spacious vehicle where you can afford to eat and walk and site-see or even take photos on different places. You can hardly do that on the bus, where you've very limited in movement and you'll feel all tired after the whole travel specially if the road is not that good.
