So imagine you are doing your doing weekly shopping from your local super market. While you are browsing through the things selecting what you want you see a well dressed youth shoplifting. How would you react to this situation?
Would directly you go and tell that person to stop it or would you rather prefer to tell this matter to the nearest counter?
Well recently I was in this kind of a situation.I did neither. It took me by surprise.Because he was a well dressed person. No one would take him to be a thief. Then I thought he might be a kleptomaniac. So I didn't inform the workers there. Also I didn't have the courage to confront him.But it left me very surprised.I couldn't stop thinking about it.So I just wanted to know how you will be reacting if you were in my place.
Please give your opinion.

It depends on the situation. If I am at a shop where I am a regular then that shoplifter would be in for a problem because then I will certainly inform the authorities. If I am shopping at an unknown shop then probably I won't tell the authorities because that man could be the owner of the shop. I am not sure.

What I'll do is I'll inform the security right away and tell them about that person so she/he won't be able to get away with it without an inspection. I've worked in a supermarket before. They usually charge the shoplifter 10 time the original amount of the item taken.

I would probably go tell the nearest employee what I saw and let them deal with it. I thought I remembered hearing that people shoplifting causes stores to raise their prices. So I wouldn't want to have to pay higher prices just because someone has sticky fingers. I think some kids do it just for the thrill of it, not because they need the stuff because they are poor.

iv been in that situation before a friend of mine came in to a shop with me stole some food from a shop and went out. I went to the security and pointed him out to them they then banned him from that shop. You can make as many excuses as you want but you should have gone to the security as that youth is still breaking the law it shoudln't matter how there dressed. People always say its the one you would least suspect.

Hi aromalram, I will call the attention of the boy and let him know that I saw what he did, and if I have a chance I will talk to the boy and give him advices its for him to accept it or not I will just do my part as an adult, we must not tolerate bad things by not reacting or ignoring something. Or If you don't have the chance to talk to the boy simply get the attention of the in-charge of the store or the saleslady and tell her about the situation. But I also take into consideration my safety if buy telling this incidents to authority will cause me my life I rather not tell. Thanks, can you be my friend?

Hi friend, I think it depends on the situation and what type of store your at. I have seen a lot of people shoplift from a grocery store before and I don't say anything because they actually might be hungry with no money. I think it is different from stealing a loaf of bread from a grocery store than stealing a tv from Best Buy. Like you said you didn't expect him to be shoplifing because he was well dressed and that could be a reason why he dressed that way.
I had a friend who was well off and she lived with her boyfriend and I knew it was hard for her but she actually told me she would steal food from the local supermarket so survive. She told me she would get a bag and put the food into the bag to make it look like she had already paid for it and no one ever stopped her because she was a well kepted woman on the outside. I was surprised when I heard that from her. But there are so many people in need out there of food that I wouldn't snitch.

I think I'd tell the someone what was going on. Just to point out that that person is doing something wrong, maybe if he comes back another time the workers there can keep an eye out on him. I think we as a society should work together to stop these things from happening. If he doesn't have enough money to buy food than he should ask someone to help him out. I'd buy him a dinner if he'd ask me friendly.
