Are there any nice play parks in your local area?

The play park nearest to my home is for older kids and it is in poor repair. The one a little further away is suitable for my two year old son. It has baby swings, a roundabout and a slide. Yesterday I took him to a play park half an hours drive away. It was a special event day with a bouncy castle, face painting and all sorts of play equipment for disabled children. My fourteen year old son felt too old to go so I took my six year of niece. She had a very exciting and enjoyable time just like my son.
Are there any nice play parks in your local area?
What is your nearest one like?
Do your kids like a particular type of play equipment?

Till my older son was 3, we lived in a different area. There was a park close by...not close enough to walk to but just a 5 minute drive away. We used to take our son there often. But when we moved to the place we are at now...there is no park nearby. Besides the little park the kids use at school...I feel sorry that my kids couldn't enjoy a park. We take once a year or something to a park which is quite a drive away from our place. Now the lake in front of our home is being developed by the government and I heard a park is coming up there. We've also bought two flats at a place where there are many theme park inside the residential area. Whenever we go to see how the work is progressing (which is often nowadays), the kids have a ball and enjoy their time there. I'm sure they will really enjoy their time there if we plan to move there this year or next. As of now, our plan is stay there only over the weekends (after the completion of the work)...because it's a little far out from the city.

I have a few parks nearby and all are lovely, the closest one is not very big but the girls love it and never seem to tire of going there. The second closes while needs a bus to get there is always empty so i love that one! The third closest is huge lots of open grass and a huge park and pond and caged birds to look at too we all love that one and often use that one for making a day of it and taking a picnic that is also a short bus ride away.
Our favourite while it is an hours bus ride away is well worth it its beautiful and they have a massive playpark plus a cafe open grass a flower garden a mini petting zoo and a pond we are very luck to have so many great (free) places to take them!

There used to be a great playgroud here in our neighborhood. I remember going there with my father and my sister when we were younger. But sadly, the slides, swing, jungle gym and other playing paraphernalia were already broken due to overuse. There is a smaller playground nearby but it isn't as nice as the one we used to go to.

I live in Chattanooga TN and we have an awsome park about 30min drive from my house called Lake Winnepesaukah. Its a small theme park with fun rides shows and good food. The actual owner of the park lives on it, when you ride the train you go by his house. Its a very nice and fun theme park for all ages.

My backyard is like a playground, so we rarely go to the park. I have a swingset with 4 swings, A play clubhouse that has a sand box under the clubhouse part and a slide, rope ladder and firemans pole to slide down. Then I have a teeter tauter, some smaller slides and ride on toys.
Not to mention a swimming pool and hot tub.
If I were to take my daughter to the park, the one closest to our house is nice. They just redid the whole park 2 yrs ago, so it is very nice.

I'm sorry your park isn't in great shape. I know my daughter loves to play at the park so your son must be missing out.
I live on a military base and we have great parks in all of our neighborhoods. I actually have one right out of my backyard so it is really close and easy for us to go out to.
A short drive into town, there is an awesome park with fountains. We usually spend most of our summer afternoons there as it is so hot there is nothing better than playing in the water. If I have the time to drive about twenty minutes, I will go to a park a little further out. It is huge and has a small water area too. I am always dragging my daughter out of there after a couple hours as she doesn't want to go home.

Yes there is a nice park. It was good shape also a few years ago and many people used to go there to play, but then some vandals decided to burn a plastic slide-house (i don't know exactly how you call it but it's a slide and a small house with a door... Luckily last summer, after a few months of waiting, the local administration has refurbished it. We were lucky since many persons put pressure to refurbish it because it also has some nice trees and is shady.
So this park is not very big, but is suitable for many ages. They put a nice area covered area and three tables with benches attached at two sides and they are children's height (but parents can sit down as well). There are two types of swings: the support ones for small babies/toddlers and the ones for older children. There is a see saw, two types of slides. One which is a bit circular and another one which is wider and kids have to cross a "bridge" to slide.
When they were refurbishing the area they also decided to put a small soccer turf pitch. It is used for five a side football, but older kids who don't play in the slides or swings can have a run there or play some ball together. It's nice and 15 minutes walk away from my house.

There are a few parks near where i live but they have broken glass bottles and other rubbish in them that older children have left that is dangerous. There is also broken swings chewing gum put on swing seats and alot of the time they have been sick in the play area.My two youngest boys love going to the park to play,if i walk by the park and there has been a clean up done then i take my boys there, they like the slide the best.

My daughter is 1 in 2 weeks and I take her to the park right round the corner from me. She loves the baby swings, I dont feel cofortable yet letting her go on anything else. I will when she is a little bit older maybe in a few months. I have many parks round by me that are all suitable for younger children and older children alike. I will not go there after 5pm though as there are teenagers around that drink in the parks.

I have a park just across the street. Great view of trees and plants. It used to be in bad repair but the council did a great job of putting in a new payground for the local kids. There was also going to be a new library built on it but too many residents complained that it would spoil their view. Shame as I really think kids need something like that. My neices love it when they come to stay.

We have two parks in really close proximity. The closest one needs torn down and rebuilt. It is all rusted and has very few things for the kids to actually do. It doesn't even have a slide, which happens to be my daughter's favorite. We only go there for a quick walk and a couple minutes of play. We've never even met any other kids there. The other one is only a couple minutes drive though. It is excellent. It has pretty much anything you could want. Two full sized playgym areas, soccer, basketball, bike paths, baseball, swings, beach volleyball, and trails. We go to that one at least once a week. My daughter always makes friends there, but it can get over crowded due to parties and sports games. As long as she enjoys it I'm happy. It's always good to get out of the house and watch them have fun. Most of our neighborhood is elderly, so it's a good way to make friends.
