calculators are now a days getting into our life as a part and parcel. One way it is useful since you can do problems very quickly and get the results. My view is, for simple mathematics like addition and subtraction of simple numbers we have to use our own brain instead of calculators. More usage of calculators for simple problems will make our mind lazy which is totally to be avoided. Use brains for simple problems. Give your brain some basic work all time. Sure this will relate to physical health also. What you say about this?

i totally agree with you, kguru1979. when i was studying, we were not even allowed to use the scientific calculators and to find values for trigonometry functions, we had to use the tables. but students these days are allowed to use calculators even at the age of what, 10 maybe? they then tend to be very dependent on calculators and are very lazy to do simple calculations which will cause their brain speed to deteriorate. how sad...

I agree with what you said guru. But sometimes i can't help but use it. I use calculators to make my answers more accurate.

I do use the calculator for simple mathematics. You know, i'm pretty weak in mathematics so i really need the company of a calculator. lol! Well, since i'm not good in math, i just want to confirm my computation with the help of a calculator especially on transactions. It's something we shouldn't take for granted especially me who has no confidence on my mathematical skills.

I always use my head first. I have been out of school for a few years so I try to exercise my mind alot. If I cant do it in my head because its a bigger problem then I use paper to work it out. If I still struggle then I will turn to a calculator. Its good to exercise your mind though so you dont forget some of the easiest things.

Thats exactly right jessi.. We should use calculators only if we are in damn need of it. For some simple calculations we have to use our mind first. Now a days culture is going in a wrong way. Children, instead of using their brains are mostly using such kind of devices unwantedly. This has to be avioded.

A agree that we should do more by ourselves so that we are not overly dependent on stuff like the calculators. These days I find that my division speed is lower than what it was for a simple reason: I do more division by calculators than using my brain these days. The sad thing is that we are relying on these things more and more so naturally that it is not us, the grown-up will suffer but our kids.
