I have recently seen in the news how the media is wanting to blame rising gas prices on OPEC because the controll the largest supply of oil. I find this wrong. For one yes they control 40% of the oil in the world and yes they work together to keep prices at a level that works for their economies. However, would we not do the same if it was our only resource? Would you not want your country to work in your best interests and to hell with the others. I personlly would rather they work for my benefit and not that of others. This resource is the only thing they have and it is not limitless. Once it is gone then what will they have? I completely understand their need to have prices at certain levels. As this is the only way they can ensure their own countries future. Now from what I have seen this has little to do with the actual cost of gasoline in our country. We have higher reserves now than ever, we are using less than we did last year so why are prices rises to more or the same as they were last year? I personally do not know, but I thind it has more to do with those that are hording oil and storing it and not releasing it after it is purchased than it does with the oil producing countries providing to the open market. What do you think

I'm not sure who is rasing from gas prices, but they are definately greedy. And I think Summer travel is definately a factor in rising prices right now.

Now why am I not surprised that the Media is blaming Opec and well not the president, when Bush was in office it was always his fault when gas prices were on the rise, however now that their golden boy is in office they lay the blame on OPEC..
