Visting library I can see lots of students loging on to various sites as they are addicted to lap top which is there best friend. Free net in library is boosting the sales of laptops like never before, who wont like to have a chat or blog or check mail all free, ya its like students are on a joy trip to internet!

Not really addicted to the laptop but I think more so addicted to the internet. And since bulky desktop computers are static, I mean they cant be brought anywhere, then students turn to laptops or some other kind of gadget small enough to be portable and has an internet connection. Its also convenient for school since most projects can be done with a laptop. Of course like you have mentioned there are other perks to having one's own laptop.^_^

We don't have free net in our library.
Sad to say, when we urgently need to use them, we still need to pay for our time.
Another thing is, we don't use laptops in our library instead it's still a common personal computer.
We have this computer room in our school, which has about 50 flat-screened computers and sometimes we are free to use them if we want to.^_^
There is also this computer shop inside our school but again we have to pay first to be able to use them.

Hi.
Laptops these days are as important for us as is anything. Facilities like wifi and wi-max have transformed each and every place in most of the campus premises as fun spot for us.
Internet is being used for secondary things more then what it is actually meant for...the information flow.

I fist shared the same view as you when the internet was still something new to me.
However, after knowing more about the internet, I change my view.
True, students are spending more time facing their laptops (I'm one of those) , but does this means this is because they are addicted? To some student, the answer may be yes. However, for many other, the reason is because there is really such a need. Laptops has become a thing just like light bulb. Will you say you are addicted to use a light bulb nowadays? The case is just the same for laptops now.
Besides tools for social life, like facebook and blog, which may seems not necessary for some internet people (some may take it as absolutely necessary, there are still many things that we must do with a laptop. I type my laboratory report by using computer (microsoft office), my teacher send me the homework request thorught e-mail and receive my work by the same way, my school send notice and even my lesson time talbe to me through e-mails. After discovoring MyLot, I even earn my pocket money here. It is true that students are facing the laptops much more than in the past, but will you call that an 'addiction' if there is really such a need?
