Now I am of the opposite mind and don't like dispaying my stats on my sites. Other than saying look at me I'm wonderful because I have X amount of visitors the onscreen showing of stats is pretty pointless. Why, becuase faking your stat count is too easy and so I take these figures with a pinch of salt.
But I do use 2 stats packages for personal analysis of what is going on on my sites. Firstly I use analytics. What I like about analytics is that they don't take into account when you have been spidered by a bot. So the figures you see are those which have come from visitors. Pluss the ability to drill down for information on a specific vistor is great for analysing how people use my site.
The second package I use is statcounter. Unlike analystics this displays real time data and also shows information on bot visits. The reason I use this is that it satisfies my need to view my stats several times a day to see if my sites have been busy. Yes I know pretty pointless but we all do it at one point or another. It also displays more data on how people exit your site than you can easily get from analytics.
