I think some people post discussions in the wrong interests so they get more responses, most of them post it in the "make extra money" interest because there are so mny members there, I think this is not fair for the rest of us who are abiding by the rules, or anyone, for that matter, this is a violation of the mylott rules of posting!! well, mabye not a violation, but it is still very unfair!

No i haven't ever posted under wrong discussion just because of more members. Its always better to post under correct interest category coz otherwise your discussion can by deleted

I have never known a discussion to be deleted, siddharthjeevan, because it's in the wrong interest category. Discussions are only ever deleted if they violate the Guidelines - and the Guidelines say NOTHING about Interest groups.

Personally from time to time there might be others who have done this, and will continue to do this, but personally maybe they are Newer members here and just do not know which Catagory is the best place to start that New discussion in well. I know that in a lot of things it does not really matter the catagory, etc. It just depends on what you're wanting to talk about and when you start that New discussion here as well.

MyLot doesn't really care what interest you post under. This is because anyone can make a new interest named whatever they want. It's really another way of classifying your discussions - similar to tagging.
MyLot also do not seem to monitor or moderate interests and, in fact, unless you have also joined the same Interest group and use the 'my interests' tab, you will not get a selection of discussions targeted on your interests.
Most people, I believe, use one or other of the 'today's top', 'new', 'recent' or 'hot' tabs. These are not sorted by interest (as far as I know) but by other criteria such as number of comments, most recent posting and so on.
As such, it isn't abuse or a violation to post under the wrong interest - just a little silly.
I have to say that I try to chose interest groups that have a large membership when I post discussions (for example, I choose 'Life' rather than a somewhat smaller group if I am posting something about life or social topics). In fact, it seems to make little difference because I find that the people who respond to my discussions are mostly regulars (that is, on my 'friends' list). My feeling is that having a large circle of friends who enjoy the same topics is probably more effective than anything.

I belive that is correct, discussions are enourmous in number and the mylott editors may not have the time to check every single discussion, whether it is in the correct interest column or not, and people do most regularly visit those three tabs you mentioned before, and I belive that you have won my point of view over for this discussion, that is why, sir, you are to be awarded a best response.
Thankyuo for responding,

I don´t think it´s always to have more answers. Some people don´t know how to use mylot yet. Let´s give them the benefit of the doubt. By the way which do you think are the interests that recieve more answers? Maybe we should truy them JUst kidding, of courtse.
Take care

As it happens, I just noticed a couple of discussions like that this morning. It annoys me too, but on the other hand, we can always vote with our fingers, so to speak. If we don't respond to such misplaced discussions, they won't get so much credit for them.
Of course, it can be in some cases that the writer simply made a mistake :-) MyLot can be a bit hard to navigate for a beginner...
