A New Kitty

Last year I brought a cat home. My daughters were thrilled, needless to say. However along with this new cat, came many new responsiblities. The first thing that we took care of, was to get the cat licenced. The second thing that we had to do was get him harness trained. The people in our area, aren't known for following the speed limits posted. As a result, I was afraid to let our cat go outside. My mom, who owns three cats (well two now that one has passed away) of her own, suggested putting our cat on a leash. Hence why we decided to train it to go on a leash. Now whenever kitty wants to go outside, we just pop his leash on, tie him to the deck, and he gets to enjoy himself. Are any of my fellow mylotters, cat owners? Do you let your cat(s) outside? Do you licence your pets? Do they go out on a leash?

Yes, when you live in town most of the time you have to license your pets just so people know who they belong too in case any of them get lost. I just wish that it was a little cheaper to do so though. We do not own any pets at this time, and if I did own a Cat, I cannot imagine keeping it on a leash. Personally I think it is better to just let them roam outside as they wish and hope for the best from there, but we know people who do use leashes.

I don't agree at all. Cats are smart yes, but they can't always take care of themselves. I wouldn't want to leave it to chance. Why would anyone? Would you let your kids play on the street? I know it might seem like I am being a little harsh, but the cats that get hit by cars would still be alive if their owner had just taken the time to put them on a leash. It's not cruel if you give them enough play, it just keeps them safe. To each his own I guess. Happy mylotting.

I did have a cat when I was younger who was trained to go out on a lease. We took him on holiday with us, and when we went walking in the countryside, he would come too. It was so adorable, the dogs didn't know what to make of him, he wasn't scared of dogs though. Once we had just finished walking around a gorge and went for a drink and the woman was so suprised to see a cat with us. He loves people, and quickly made friends with her. She came back out with a bowl of milk for him and everyone was just petting him, he loved the attention:)! We don't let our cats out by themselves at certain times because their is a busy road outside our house.

I do the same thing. In fact I don't let my cat out of the house unless he is on a leash. There is a road in front of my house that might as well be a race track. No one does the speed limit and I know that there have been a few times when I have seen a cat have a close call. I just can't see the point in risking your pets life by letting them off leash. Thanks for taking the time to respond to my post and I am sorry that it took me so very long to respond back.

I have 2 cats, one is nearly 1 years old another one is 3 month.Since I have a regular job which from 9AM to 5 PM,I can't leave them outside~I don't think they can find home by themself.ahahaha~~~~ I didn't get the licence for my pet 'cause it needn't in my country. But the dog should have. Sometimes I'd like to carry them in my arms to see what looks like outside from window~~~~
