Have you ever done anything of which you knew it would end in disaster?

Men are the strangest beings to walk this earth, I am positive about it.
We do things we don't like and things of which we know up front that it won't work. why do we do this? Why are we so unbelievably positive sometimes?
Are we supermen? What are we thinking?!
So yes, I bought chocolate/caramel flavoured gum just because I wanted to try it.
I knew up front that it would taste like crap, but still, I bought it.
So tell me, what did you do of which you allready knew it wouldn't work?

Hi cyberfluf, there are many things in our life we do out of compulsion of some kind or the other knowing fully well that , it will not succeed or work out. I have had so many such experiences when I felt forewarned ( call it intution or whatever) about a cetain thing, but had to ahead with it for some reason or the other and it did fail or left a bad taste...it may be regarding a film or buying a certain item for myself or for the house or even regarding a person..

I mostly agree Kiran. It's good to mention that such experiences can also happen with people. I think the most welknown example is when falling in love with 'a wrong guy/girl'. Your intution, your friends and family might warn you but you are blindsighted with love and go ahead anyone. Another point of view that we didn't discuss so far, thanks for adding it to the list!

I engaged in dangerous activity all the time; I explore abandoned buildings. To date all I have gotten is some scrapes and bruises... but in a recent one I had a nasty fall out a window. I climbed a 12 foot fence, I'm terrified of heights. We broke the lock off a door and our only exit besides the fence was out a window. My friend was helping me get out the window when she pushed a little too hard, i lost my balance and fell into the street. I had a badly scraped elbow, it could have been worse but I knew it was not a good idea to go in a building that well sealed.

It sounds like you are quite the daredevil, Stargleamer . I don't think I would dare to do such a thing, but I admire that you have the guts to do so. It does sound exciting, but dangerous non the less. I am happy that you go away with just scrapes and bruises so far. Take care and welcome to mylot!

We are but human beings with emotions. It is often when one is boiling hot with anger that one will do anything that we know very well will end in disaster. There was this once I walked out of the room intentionally after a heated argument with my boss. I had expected him to walk out but I was surprised I walked out instead. Luckily it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. lol.

I agree, we need to be aware of our emotions to be able to be as much capable of controlling them as possible. If we don't arguments can really 'explode', and we don't want that to happen. I think you did the best you could in the situation with your boss. Walking out of the room might be seen as a weakness to some people, but it takes more strenght to be able to cool down your emotions and be the wisest than to blurt everything out.

Sometimes we get tired of the the things we enjoy. Mankind got tired of water, so it invented kool-aid. Some individuals are not that creative. They get tired of ham and cheese sandwiches and have peanut butter and cheese instead. So you had chocolate/caramel gum to put all other kinds of gum in perspective. Did it work? Does mint taste better now than it did a few days ago?

Well, actually I never liked mint flavoured gum that much, but I do enjoy the fruitgum types. And yes, I might even enjoy them more now knowing that there are things out there like caramel flavoured gums that taste like absolute crap . I think you have posted a very interested and possibly very true point of view here, that is very unique from the other ones I got so far. Thanks so much for posting it!

Hi Cyberfluf, Yuk just the sound of it puts me off, gum should be mint fullstop LOL. Well at least you know not to buy it again. I done this recently with strawbeey jaffa cakes, also yuk, Jaffa cakes are supposed to be orange, just orange ones for me from now on. I guess we do these things out of curiosity LOL. Huggles. Ellie :D

That's very true, Ellie. And as long as it's not something that can hurt us a lot I guess there is nothing wrong with curiosity. Allthough they do say that curiosity killed the cat, so better keep mine away from the gum! LOL!

Hi cyberfluf I actually buy things that sound strange or that really don't look normal. The chocolate/caramel flavoured gum soud nice to bad I have to tryed it I don't know where you got it, so far I have tried the chocolate falvoured gum and also the chololate/mint candy. Most of the time I like to try new and different things I guess I get bored to have the same things all the time and its also good to try something because you never know if its going to be your new favorite thing.

Very true desteny, you never know if you are going to miss out of some nice new flavours if you are affraid or reluctant to try new things. For all we know I could have just as easily loved the gum, as I like both gum, caramel and chocolate. The gum is from the brand stimorol essence I believe, they are the centre filled gums that also come in tastes like strawberry/lime and vanilla/mint. I love those both!
