I have a twitter account and I use it, seldom though, to promote my business. With so many people joining twitter everyday, with darts of tweets and links, I wonder how many actually read through the links!
What do you use Twitter for? Do you find it useful?

I have been using twitter for 2 years and I absolutely love it. I was not so active at first but am very prolific these days. It has helped me build my digital magazine's brand name to a great extent. First things first, I love socialising online. I make it a point to interact with people and learn a lot. A sociel media enthusiast, I have learnt a LOT from Twitter. I have about 1300 followers and have made about 9500 updates. And yes, I follow most of the links Twitter peeps post. It can be overwhelming, yes, but it's plain fun! :)

No i have not opened an account on twitter, although i have come across some who use it to for networking. Personally though i have found little use for it for either promoting or even online interaction. The main thing about a tool like this is the time an attention that it uses. In my personal opinion people who have the time for it and use it for the intention to market and promote will find it useful.

I guess it does get to be difficult.
I do remember reading about how some users of twitter keep the balance by balancing the time they spend on twitter pitching for others and promoting thier stuff.
And a simple rule i came across for people trying to be succesful in promotion there there
Follow people that are following a big number of people.

But the true purpose gets lost somewhere. You may get page views but I would rather want people reading through my thoughts!

Time is a big factor and my account way lying defunct for some months. Now, i have become a little active for promoting my stuffs there. What's the use if you do not have time to read your friends there!? At times I feel bad about it.

@ sidd...is revtwt an adjunct of Twitter. I have seen a lot of people promoting this program but I wouldn't want to join a program in hopes of making a few dollars only to have my twitter membership suspended or cancelled down the road.

I seem to always be behind the curve. I still have not investigated twitter. Myspace, then Facebook, now Twitter......I just don't know. Should I be keeping up with all these advances. The only thing I usually sign up for these things for is so I understand the jokes on TV/Radio.

There are so many messages on Twitter, I try to follow only people whose tweets I really want to read.
I try to write stuff that's helpful or informative, so that people will actually want to read it... which is they same principle I apply to people I want to follow.
Although there are millions of messages, you can use the search function to find posts that are interesting to you. I sometimes search for topics in the news I'm interested in or musicians I want to learn more about.
As a writer, I use Twitter to post links to my blog posts, which definitely gets them more traffic than they would otherwise.

Hi Mimpi!
I just could not understand properly, how does twitter work and how it can be beneficial to me. I am also not sure, how many actually read the links. I feel those who are our close friends, only go through our links to know about us.

Yes, it is good for those who actually want to promote themselves, or their business. I read in a newspaper, the other day that many Hero and Heroines are using Twitter for promoting themselves and their films.

I use twitter as a form of promotion tool also. But it seems that whilst these sort of sites work quite well in the beginning, they become too popular and all I tend to find it other users trying to sell to others who are also trying to sell their programs, blogs and website - I have been with Twitter since it was new to the web and found that whilst I have a lot of friends on there, it really doesn't make that much different to my on-line business any more. -Derek

i use twitter to rant.
not many friends i know have my twitter account and those that follow me are strangers.
hence i feel at ease to rant about stuff.
other than that, i hardly use twitter much. one, i have to log into the page. it's not automatic for me.

I use twitter to attract visitors for my blog. I also earn thru twitter by answering survey questions....so for me, this site is really useful.

If you have many followers, promotion helps indeed. its a new thing, good one. I just hope the server doesn't get overloaded.

I'm well aware of Twitter, but I'm not a user of it at all. I have no account there and don't frequent any other accounts either! I guess I'm one of those more conservative internet users it comes to the Facebook and Twitter type portals out there. You certainly never stop hearing about it though, that's for sure! The viral effects these sites manage to create never cease to amaze me.

What surprises me more is the strength of the servers! I fear they might fall to the huge traffic any day!

I have a Twitter account which I opened a while ago when I was looking for ways to promote my blog but I can’t say I have ever used it. For me it is a matter of not having enough time to manage different sites. I am in Facebook and I seldom log in there, but I do so more often than Twitter. I wouldn’t’ know what to put in my updates anyway; my life is not that exciting!

I also have an account in twitter but i seldom use it.I have not been able to understand its working. There you follow people and people follow you and i have seen people writing about their daily routine and things of little relevance.
I am still confused about its working.

I use twitter to get extra entries on giveaways that I enter for. I also use it to get notiified when swagbucks.com comes out with swagcodes. I also am following someone who tweets about free stuff as they find it. Nobody reads my tweets, so it's not helpful for me to rant there or anything.

I know what you mean. We just keep posting with thousands tweets every sec, I wonder if anyone really reads through those!
