Moonlight Sonata

While about to leave my son's dorm, I heard over his laptop Bethoven's Moonlight Sonata. As we were lulled by this music, he remarked that we no longer hear this much of a music or have this so called music talents of Bethoven's calibre. Why do you think this is so?
