Extra-Special Rubber Slippers?

Flip-Flops have become such a huge thing here in my country, thanks to one of the brands that brought it here. The craze over these colorful rubber slippers is just amazing and overwhelming. I was not spared from it. I own more than 45 pairs, but late last year I stopped buying these rubber slippers.
I'm curious. Is it just here in the Philippines or are Flip-Flops a big thing around the globe? We can be more specific. Are you loyal to one particular brand of Flip-Flops? How many pairs do you own?

I live in the United States, and flip flops have been around all my life. I own a lot of them, but they aren't like a big deal because they've been around for so long. But....when summer comes around, you can guarantee that at least 70% of people are wearing them. They're just old faithfuls where I live lol.
About a year or two ago, these things calles "crocs" kind of broke. Everyone had them for a while, but they're not as popular as flip flops.
Enjoy your flip flops=)

Crocs have made a name for itself here in my country, but it's not something that most people would want to have - nothing like the craze I've seen over Flip-Flops. Though they are as colorful as the Flip-Flops, they don't sell like hot cakes. I only have two pairs of Crocs. They don't go well with most outfits. Yikes.

Oh sorry, if you couldn't relate that comment to your response because this was intended to another discussion and since I have opened many windows, I got confused and this got eventually posted here!
My response would be like:
this is really interesting that you have used 43 of them!

WOW, that's a lot of flip flops! I wish I have that many too.. but because I'm a mommy, I only have two branded and the rest are locally made, I love it because its comfortable.. My children has one pair each of branded flops and they love it very much! :)

I am not really that crazy about flip flops... because i can only wear them when it is not very hot... i have this medical condition call hyperhidrosis... so my feet and hands tend to sweat a lot... especially during extreme hot and humid weather... so flip flops are a no no for me...

45 pairs! wow! That's a lot! You know, i should ask the same question too. Is it popular in other countries or people from the Philippines just got the fever within the region? lol! Well i think it's pretty expensive i mean for daily use. Almost 10x depending on the style and release. Well i'm not really loyal but i do prefer Islander because it's quite sturdy. lol! I'm not sure if I'd go for Havaianas because they're just too expensive and i don't think it fits my rugged lifestyle. It's worth a good pair of Pony sneakers!

I don't think flip flops are a huge thing in other countries. It is only really popular in tropical countries like the Philippines. Those in China or New york or Canada don't wear slippers all year round. Like you, I was a flip flop addict to the point that I buy a pair of flip flops once a week. It does not matter to me what the brand is, as long as I find the design cute. Now, I also stopped buying flip flops already since I realized I had way too many pairs. Currently I have around 40 pairs of flip flops.

I've stopped buying too. I also do not know what to do with them. Despite owning lots of pairs, there are only 3 pairs that I always use: 2 pairs of browns and 1 pair of black slippers because they go well with practically anything you wear + the colors are low-maintenance. I don't have to brush / clean my slippers. Hahaha.

I'm also from the Philippines so I can't answer your main question :) However, I do think you're over the top when it comes to this "flip flop" addiction. I have many friends who love wearing flip flops better than rubber shoes or sandals (I was one of those people back in college). However, 45 pairs sure is A LOT! I don't think I know anyone who owns more than 10 pairs!
When I was in my "flip flops" phase, I only had 2 pairs - when one of them is over used, I buy a new pair but get rid of the old one. Also, I don't buy the uber cheap ones because they don't last longs. Especially not with me who walks around all day :D
Thanks for the response on my discussion!

I think flip flops are popular all over the world. You see them a lot in places like Florida and Hawaii. I just have one pair right now. They don't last very long. They tear up very easily with me. The pair I have right now have sequins and flowers all over them. I've lost several sequins, though. Kathy.
