A fun day awhile back

Hi GRANDPA BOB, We don't have a Memorial here in May, our day is held on 11th november, on the 11 hour 11th month and the 11th. day which held for the war deaths and we call it the Poppy Day. Weh you all had the Memorial Day, it was our Bank holiday, we all had a long break but didn't do anything special. Tamara

We have zoos near us, but none of them are free. With the cost of food and veterinary care for the animals, I wouldn't expect them to be free. There is a nice zoo in Oklahoma CIty, where quite a bit has been spent creating exhibit enclosures that are healthier for the animals. There's also a small zoo in town here, but we haven't been since last year. My favorite zoo in the area is the Arbuckle Wilderness, in Davis Oklahoma. It's a drive thru zoo with a serengeti theme. Most of the animals that aren't meat eaters wander at will, and you can feed them right out of the car.

I haven't been to the zoo in God knows how many years, probably about 28 years, when my son was very young was the last time went to the african safari that we have here in hemmingsford quebec, that was when he was about 8 so that will make it about 24 years ago if you count that.

Happy birthday to you. How old are you now? 40? you dont look older than that. We dont have a zoo here where I live, Have to go for a 1 1/2 hours to get to one. My hubby BQ And had the kids down we had a great time.

Happy belated birthday! While we didn't do anything special for memorial day, we just went to como on the 30th(which is my birthday LOL) and I have to say I was somewhat disappointed. We hadn't been there in years and boy has it changed! We had to park at the fairgrounds and take a shuttle back to the park and it was SO crowded. Then when we were in there it seemed like they didn't have as many animals as they used to. Not to mention the expansion to the ride section. I just have so many memories from when I was younger and from when my kids were younger of spending the day just picnicing and relaxing at como that I was a little sad to see some of the changes and how much the place has grown. On the up side the conservatory expansion is amazing! I hadn't been there since they added that and it was wonderful. And our little guy loved the carousel.

We don't have a free zoo in my area, we do have a zoo though. I think I went to it last year, we usually go every year for Easter, this year I didn't. Our family just couldn't get together for some reason we all had different things to do, I like going and seeing the different animals, and we do have a rain forest in ours, its neat. We didn't do anything special for Memorial Day, just stayed around the house and rested, that Sat. we did have a cookout with my family, till we got rained out then we had to move everything inside..lol. Happy Birthday a few days late. I was very busy for the whole weekend. I stayed all night Friday at my friends house. I was helping her give her daughter a baby shower, for Saturday. The shower was big, about 100 people. We had it at a local metropark. Sunday I spent the day with my mom, church, lunch and shopping. Monday I helped my friend get another daughter and her family moved. We have a wonderful big zoo were I live. On Monday mornings from 10 to 12 its free for residents to get in. Thats a thank you for us for supporting the zoo with our taxes. I also go to the zoo at other times with my mom, she has a membership and its a nice place to walk.

I had to work Memorial Day. But that is life. We do not have a free zoo near us. Most of the zoos in the area are petting zoos and consist of farm animals.

We didn't do much for Memorial Day. We did cook out on the grill though. My husband and I both worked. Happy late birthday. We do not have any free zoo's around here. We have one about 65 miles from here though that is very nice, but you have to pay but it is worth it if you like animals.

well, I had to work on Memorial Day so I had suggested to my client that we go easy on the work that day and watch a lot of NCIS (we watched 3 episodes I think.) I did do a lot on the Friday before so we hadn't watched any that day. There is now a zoo some where around town, South I think, but I've never been.

I also visit the Como zoo when possible....I like it better then the Minnesota one...I spent Memorial day up at our camper and a bunch of family joined us...it was soooo much fun! By the way.....Happy belated birthday!

The nearest zoo to me is in Columbus, 40 miles or so away. I plan to go this summer, I haven't been there for about 40 years and it was fantastic when I was a teen. I hear it's even better now, with Jack Hannah as the one who runs it. What a wonderful outing for your birthday! I hope you have many more happy ones in store for you.

BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GRANDPA BOB!!! If I had known, I'd have been on time!! I'm going to add it to my calendar so this doesn't happen again. I did absolutely nothing for that weekend. Didn't even leave the apartment until later that Monday. It was kind of nice having nothing required of me.

if there was a free zoo near me, I'd be there every weekend! In the UK there is no such thing. They charge such extortionate prices. Our local zoo just got some giraffes and one of them had a baby. Its such a cutie :)

I have been to the Como Park Zoo and it is hard to believe that it is free, it is sooooo large. Kansas has lots of zoos, most of them free, or very inexpensive, and the Sedgewick County Zoo, which is a paid zoo that is reciprocal with zoos from all over the agency. I can hardly wait to see your picture, so I can see if it has changed much since last year.

I missed your b-day. Been so danged busy that I've even forgot my own b-day which was May 16. I can't even remember what we did that weekend. Anyways, Happy Belated Birthday, Grandpa Bob. Sounds like you had a relaxing one.

Happy belated birthday. We did the standard BBQ thing. We go to the zoo frequently over the summer months. St. Louis has what has been rated the best free zoo in the country a few times. It is my daughters favorite place to go. I will try and get some pictures this summer to post.

No zoo near me I love however going to Calgary (about 7-8 hours away) and going to the Zoo while I'm there. I have been to the Como Zoo as well it was pretty awesome! I loved the polar bears and the seals.

Happy birthday to you! Well, my answer to you is that I have a few zoo which is my neighbour who have 2 dog and it is fun to see the dog sleep in front of the air conditioner room. Yeah I know that is not the zoo but I assume it is so please be happy and stay healthy. I don't go for picnic because I don't have time to do it. I just read Mylot and write mylot and hope that everyone can be my friends and share your happiness and sadness to me. Cheers.
