Searching for Luck

My Aunt Monnie got me started searching for 4-leafed clovers when I was a teenager. We would spend hours sitting on the cool grass looking through a patch of clovers in search of the lucky ones. That was over 30 years ago.
I still enjoy this pastime. I find it very relaxing and challenging to search through a thick patch of clovers. When I come across one of the lucky leafed clovers I search for more.
When I was younger I would place them in a photo album. About 20 years ago I began to place them in between the pages of my favorite book. This presses them very neatly.
I really haven't thought about what I will do with all of the clovers I have collected over the years. I think of them as a treasure that others will find when I am long gone.

I always looked for 4 leaf clovers when I was a kid. I was never successful though. Sometimes I would search for several days at a time whenever I was outside and I'd never find one so I'd try the next day and then I'd never find one. I eventually gave up. I figured I wasn't finding one so I probably never would. I haven't looked for 4 leaf clovers for years.

Oh you should give it another try. Once you find one you can't stop!

I used to look for four leafed clovers when I was a kid. We raised alfalfa, but the clover grew wild along the ditches. We used to spend a lot of time whiling away the hours.
I don't have to look for four leaf "clover" any more. I have wild oxalys taking over my herb beds. That's close enough to clover and it's always 4 leaf!

Ah so true, but it takes away that challenge of browsing over hundreds of 3-leafed clovers to find that elusive 4-leafed clover of luck!

I used to enjoy that to Elusive but I have to admit I threw mine out many years ago
As my Ex Husband was army we moved a lot and he told me to get rid of stuff like that as it was taking us over our Limit with the removal, so a lot of things had to go even my collection of Books
But yes I used to love looking for them but I have to admit I don't any more
Hugs to you

I find just reading your post about this wonderful activity very relaxing. I do remember as a child looking for 4-leaf clovers with my cousin. I haven't looked for 4-leaf clovers in a long time. I think you idea of saving them is grand and when I find my first one (I plan to look over the next few days!) I am going to press it in a book! Thanks for reminding me of free, fun way to relax!

So glad to hear that there are other fellow luck gatherers out there. I have had people stop and question what I was looking for and when I replied they looked at me funny. When I show them my collection they are amazed. Some will even try to search for their own.

No way!! You actually managed to find more than one?? When I was young I used to search for 4 clover leaves first of all because I was curious to see one, and secondly because I really hoped for some extra doses of luck.
Yes, it's good that you keep them. You found them and I think that they are really treasures. Well, surely you have stories to tell about them too. Maybe you put them somewhere and write the date and place you found them, so it's a fully fledged collection.

My children would often join me in the search for clovers of luck. They were easily frustrated and wanted to give up. I would find one and let them know in what area it was in. When they found it they were delighted!

I have never seen a four leafed clover in my life. I have always searched when I see a patch of clover but no luck for me on that. Did it really bring you luck? I do hope I can find one. You are lucky to have found that many.

I should be one of the luckiest people in the world if the 4-leafed clovers actually brought me luck. I have so many of them.

How lovely. i remember as a kid I would search and search but I never found one. I think we have a different strain of clover. I thought they were only found in Ireland.
You could perhaps encase them singly in a little bit of cellophane and include them in birthday cards you post. How lucky you are. :)

We used to spend hours and hours as kids searching for four leaf clovers, I think I only ever found one but I have since lost it. They are a bit like a treasure because there are not many of them at all. I might have to go and find a patch of clover now!!! hehe.

So, what would use for those 4 - leaf clovers? I have not much idea about those plants, all I know that people collected them for samples. I don't know why, maybe that is their hobby. Would it be used for something special, aroma or something else?

Some believe they bring good luck. If that were true I should be one of the luckiest people alive.

That's a wonderful hobby, Elusive, and I think it would be nice if you could display them in some way - maybe in a shadow box or under glass on a table. I have not seen a clover in so many years, and it really hurts living in the city where I'm not able to commune with nature as I would like to.
