Hi guys, Today myself my son and my daughter done a carboot sale only after having loaded the car up and driving to advertised venue we arrived to a CAR BOOT CANCELLED sign, so now what there was no way we were going back home so after making a few phone calls we discovered one 47 miles away that had already started but off we drove. Weather was glorious so as we live near the coast traffic was horrendous so by the time we arrived we paid half price sellers entry and set up, we had an hour left. We sold £43 worth of goods in that hour which I think was great as sale was on from 1-4pm. I reckon if we had been able to arrive in time to set up properly and spend the full three hours we would have made at least £100. When was the last time you done a carboot, yard sale or market and how productive was it? Huggles. Ellie :

Wow, not bad for an hour! You did a great job, Kudos! My husband and I also went yesterday and the Park & Ride was full of sellers. I think there were more sellers than buyers LOL! We didn't really sell much this time unlike when we had some Jerusalem artichokes from our allotment. Maybe next time we need to put some plants in the pots as they really sell well.

It's okay about last Sunday. At least I enjoyed the sun. I did notice kids' stuff do sell well and the kids themselves love to sell their unwanted toys and stuff away.
Although I think the same stuff can be found in charity shops but most people prefer to go to the car boot sale because there are so much more to see and choose from. I find Car boot really an interesting place to go when you are looking for antiques or just about anything.

Hi Jemina, Yes for only ending up being there for an hour we done really well and going to go this weekend again with stuff that didn't fit in the car plus what didn't sell to the original planned one for the full three hours to clear. I think car boots are fun although I hadn't done one in ages but agree plants do seem to sell well. Sorry you didn't make too much yesterday. Huggles. Ellie :D

Oh it was ages ago now. The worst part was a guy who was going to buy a set of 3 David Eddings hardcover books in mint condition for $30. He said he would be back so I put them away for him but he didn't return. Before that, I called in a second hand man and he took lots of stuff. We were broke at the time and I sold lots of good stuff a lot of which I latter regretted as I missed it.

Hi MsTickle, Hard lesson learned I only put back if a deposit or full amount paid fo them to then collect later as I have been stung by that one in the past. Was supposed to do one yesterday afternoon but it chucked it down with heavy rain all day so it was a no go. Hugles. Ellie :D

Yes, at one point of time I did established a stall at a religious conference and I remember selling religious items such as stickers, and few other stuff. The sale was really good that day and I did made some good profit.
Unexpected sales do give you a great time to make some profits and it also freshens you up. It's nice to hear that you made some profits.

Wow... you did really well in the time you had my friend. I've never actually done a car boot myself, but my son and daughter in law have done a fair few, and I helped them out once. We took turns in walking around too, which was fun. I really enjoyed the day, as I'm sure you did!
Brightest Blessings. xx

Hi Ellie, that was bad that the carboot was cancelled...but am glad you made the other one at least it was profitable! Personally I haven't ever done a carboot sale but my son and a couple of his friends have, they set off early with quite a few things but when my son got back I asked how it went and he said that they had only sold a couple of things, so it was really a waste of time! I felt for him..it was a shame as he had taken quite a few good things...Huggles LoLo

I would love to have a go at a carboot sale, I can get my hands on make up really cheap and all the top brands too. I often think that if I could go to a boot sale I would be able to make a few quid. The problem is that I cant drive and I have talked with hubby about it before but he always seems to find an excuse as to why we cant its so frustrating!!!

I've only ever done one carboot sale but use to enjoy going to them all the time. From what I remember it was good as a fair bit of stuff went and although I can't remember how much was made definitely made it a profitable day. Saying that though it was completely shattering as to get a reasonable pitch I ended up sitting in my car with about 100 others for at least an hour before we were allowed in to set up and like today it was a sunny day making the wait even more uncomfortable.
At least you managed to find another car boot to set up at and although some of the £43 will be lost on travelling it still sounds like you did well in such a short space of time.
