How do you deal with pain? I hate it, its one of the worst feelings in the world. I can't deal with pain at all ad Im a big baby....I cry and whine and throw a fit! I try not to think about what hurts but it never works. Pain meds are great, but I try not to rely on them. I am not blessed with a high pain tolerance at all, how about you?
Also, what is the most painful thing to ever happen to you? How did you deal with it?
My most painful moment was getting my wisdom teeth pulled....it hurt like no other pain ever in my life. I took pain meds, slept and basically whined and cried for a week. Never do I want to relive that again!

I am pretty tolerant of pain. I am not scared of being in situations where i might get hurt. Just today when i was cooking, I cut myself twice with sharp knives. I bled a lot but i kept on chopping away, occasionally wiping the blood off my the top of my fingers....no worries..no blood got into the food =)
I rarely find it necessary when i get hurt to use band aids and such. Unlike my girlfriend who carries a supply of band aids in the purse =)
Worst pain i ever felt was when i was a child and I fell off my bike and hit my face on the pavement...i just cried because i was a child after all but i was alright in a few hours.

I think nobody in their right mind want to experience pain. I dont! especially if it involves blood. I dont like pain with blood, makes me want to puke and lose consciousness. I actually did once, I was trying to pierce my ears, alone in the bathroom. I thought I could do it, but my nervousness took control of the situation so suddenly, all I remember is the feeling of dizziness, then me holding onto the toilet sink. I was very weak to move! Just because of a sight of a small red blood on my ears! I dont like pain, and blood. And, Im not good at handling physical pain.

Pain doesn't really bother me that much. Sure if I get hurt, I hurt but I have a pretty high pain tolerance compared to some people that I know. If I really hurt, then I usually can deal with it unless the pain is just too much. If I'm hurting, sometimes I don't even need a pain medication. If I do need to take any pain pills, usually one does the trick and they don't need to be extra strength.
I think the most painful thing that I had to deal with was the one time I badly sprained my ankle stepping off of my school bus when I was in highschool. It was winter and the steps were wet and I slipped. I really twisted my ankle and it hurt very badly but I managed to walk to the mailbox to get the mail and then walk into the house as usual. I had to walk all the way around the house and I was in excruciating pain but I didn't let that bother me, I just kept going until I got inside.

loool are u really like that ? it's alright lisa, each person are different and has each own fears. well i'm not really a big baby though, i rarely cried and whined. i deal with pain n suffer just ok.
if its about a physically pain lol, i hate to go to the dentist ! LOL..coz for me it's better if i have a heart ache than a tooth ache hahaha..well that's the most for me. i'm not afraid of needle or anything sharp if it's injected on my body as long as not on my teeth lmaooo..
oh-oh and when i got my period too, that's hurt lmao..

i cry for a long time, talk to God and cry and cry until i forget it. sometimes i share to people i don't know since then, i just want to open up the topic. everytime i feel the pain, i make my life miserable that i don't eat regular, and sometimes i just eat junkfoods in front of the computer. i just don't know why i act like that when i'm hurt. T_T like now, i'm a bit hurt on what's happening on me.

I too have a very low pain threshhold.
I have played many different sports in my life and I've taken a few knocks and bumps, especially when playing rugby at school. I am not a big guy so I played scrum half but when the big forwards come thundering down on you before you can get rid of the ball it is scary and normally ends in pain.
I think the worst pain I experienced was when I raced BMX and one race meeting just after the starting gate dropped I was applying a lot of power on the pedals when my foot slipped off. Well I crunched my nuts on the cross bar and that was me out for the rest of the day. The pain was excruciating.

Hello Lisa;
I had root canal performed and I did not felt much of anything after the anesthetic wore off. The dentist was surprised but then he told me that maybe 5% of patients will not.
I looked at what I did - if anything - to avoid having the pain. The only thing I could see is that all the time the dentist was performing, I was very interested (for some reason) at how he looked. If he looked like a profesionnal and was really focused on what he was doing.
That was important for me. I wanted a pro and not a nut-head because I kind of thought that the more pro, the less I would have to go back and less pain.
Well. I think now it has more to do with looking out than anything else.
Next time you go to a dentist or doctor, look at him/her, at the tools they're using, how they use it, look around the room as much as your position allows to.
No sense being terrorized by what is happening. It is happening, so, let's try to make it as painless as possible.
The way to do it is to be interested to everything that is happening besides the procedure you undergo.
As for pain in general, well, more or less the same. Focus on what you're doing instead of the pain it could cause.
If you are in pain, get busy. Clean up, go take walks and look around. There's plenty interesting stuff around that we really never paid real attention to.
Try to stay away from pain killer meds. They could be adictive and as with all med, there are side effects. You don't want to start that route: Getting on more meds to handle the side effects of one or the other.
Hurray

I've got a pretty high tolerance for pain. I am trying to remember the most pain I've ever been in. I've had some menstrual cramps that have been killer.
I guess most people would say my tattoo was the most painful, but I didn't really think it was. I actually enjoyed it.
I've sprained my ankle a couple of times really badly, I've had my wisdom teeth out, I've had my nose broken, I've had my tonsils out...I can't think of any time in my life thus far where the pain was unbearable.

I have a pretty high pain tolerance. I usually just try to deal with it or take pain killers. I think the worst pain I felt was when I was carrying a box of nails up a moving truck ladder. I walked off the side and broke my ankle by falling a couple feet. It was an absolute mess. I am pretty hard headed so I kept trying to get up and walk it off. That one actually brought a tear to my eye.

Time can heal all wounds :) I had mine when I had my appendectomy operation, it is the removal of my appendix. I have a month to recover the first week is the most painful. I always cry whenever I feel the pain. But as I have said time really heal the wounds. The operation happened 6 years ago and right now, I don't even remember the intensity of the pain I undergone before.

I usually handle pain pretty well. The worst pain I ever experienced was child birth. The birth of my second child was the worst because I was hopped up on pain medicine and I felt everything as if I was on nothing. I thought I was going to rip apart. They had to give me a c-section or me and the baby would not have made it. Yes that was the worst pain ever. Thank God for epidurals and anestesia (I don't know if i spelled the right). :)
