Upgrade your cellphone when new ones come out, or use until it quits?

I have had three different cellphones in my life from the old Nokia 918, to the very new (or relatively new since it's almost 2 years) LG 550 Fusic. In each case I have used the phone until something's gone wrong with it. Unfortunately in the case of my old Nokia 918, the only problem I had was that I was unable to get a new battery, othersie, I'd probably still be using it today.

like you I tend to use my cellphone until it gives up on me. I don't really buy the hype of always getting the newest version or the trendier phones etc. As I keep repeating.. a cell phone is a cell phone.. is a cell phone LOL it's not a music player, an internet viewer, a dvd camera, etc. etc. etc. My phone was chosen not by its special features but by being easy to read the screen and the numbers - my eyesight seems to be going down south :) - and it will be with me until it breaks down. I"m sure it appreciates loyalty hehehe

When I was younger I used to upgrade my phone often, but now that I am married and with kids, being practical is more important to me than getting high-tech phones that I don't even use the features. My phone had a defect just recently and I am having it repaired, but I needed a phone unit that I can use so I borrowed from my sister who had a collection of old models that they just leave at home and not use. I simply changed the battery and its functioning well. I am ok with using it as a temporary phone until my phone got repaired. I intend to use my Samsung phone until it is beyond repair or until the repair would cost me more than a new unit.

I've upgraded my phone a couple of times, usually when it was time to sign a new contract. The only time I upgraded my phone for anything besides that was when I had a cell phone that I absolutely hated. It wouldn't hold a charge, it didn't have speed dial or voice dial, which was hard to use while driving.

Good day.... Since the year 2000 I have several cellphones that evolves from nokia to O2 pda phones. I usually don't use them till they give up for practical reasons, I mean why wait it till it die when I can sell them. I mean even at half the original price it still is a good sell and use that money in buying a newer model. Since time immemorial I never buy brandnew phones simply because they are too expensive and their price depreciates fast. I buy slightly use phones with no history of repair at half the price, enjoy it for a while then if anything good appears in the market, I'll wait for a while, sell my current and buy that phone.

That's usually what I do with mine, but the problem I've had is that most of the ones I get usually only last 6 months or so now. So, i don't know exactly what to tell you there. I can upgrade roughly every 18 months with ATT but if i look at other options then it nocks out m2m minutes with the 7 or 8 people that has ATT that I talk to. so I guess it just depends on what you prefer and if you can afford to do so at the time.

My service provider is Verizon Wireless. They have a "New Every Two" deal where every two years, I can get a new phone for free or at a greatly reduced rate. So every two years, I get a new phone. They're constantly upgrading the software on phones and constantly introducing new features, so it makes sense to me to upgrade when I can, plus it doesn't cost me anything!

I don't often change new cellphones because it can be quite expensive. I don't want to spend unnecessary money. As long as my cellphone works fine and has the features I need, that will be alright. My past cellphone is Dopod 535 and now I am using Samsung I900. I think I will use this cellphone for quite a long time, too. I love China

I would most likely continue using the current cellphone I have now unless it broke on me and then would consider being on my own cellphone plan

I usually upgrade, and I have never upgraded when the contract has run out. I am always doing it before hand. This time though, unless something happens to the phone, I am going to wait until February when my contract is up, that way I can get one for free or cheaper. By that time, there will probably lots of nice phones. The one I have is nice and it is a flip phone. I am having a hard time keeping the battery charged. I might have to check into it and see if I can replace the battery, but probably not. I think they do that so a person has to replace their phone. Well, anyway, have a great day, and happy mylotting.

In the past, I always changed cellphones after around 6 to 8 months. I always buy a newer model. But now that I am all grown up, I realized that it is such a waste to always buy a new model even if my current cellphone is still almost brand-new and fully functional. So now, I don't buy new cellphones anymore. I have my two cellphones with me for around two years now.

you are like me, i've had 4 phones and its just cause they stopped working or i couldn't get a battery otherwise i would still have them oh one of the phones my 14 yr old daughter lost it, so that was how i got the 4th phone, if i can text and talk as well as be able to take photos i'm good. can't afford all the high top dollar ones, i don't think i would purchase one if i wanted to.

I usually use the old one for a while but my brother works for a phone company so I get given new ones. You can recycle phones to help charity or for money/vouchers for yourself.

i love to upgrade my cell phone each time a new one catches my eye but unfortunately the ones that do catch my eye are too expensive for me to even consider purchasing them at that point.and finally when i do feel that i'm ready to buy it,i find much better ones already out in the market.so far i've had four cellphones....an old siemens(don't remember the model no....it was so big that i could have killed a person by throwing it at him LOL),then a Nokia 2600(duh!),followed by an LG B2150 (which had a battery life of one call,no matter how short the call was) and then my present Nokia N70 Music Edition.I'm quite happy with my cellphone now but an iPhone and a Blackberry Storm are at the top of my wishlist *wink*wink*

I have only ever had one cell phone to use. It is a cheap prepaid Nokia phone. I do not plan to upgrade because it is not affordable right now. I may later on because I would like to have one with more features.

I can't remember how many times I have changed my cell-phones and have used many different brands. Most of them are passed down from my sons who are always changing their cell-phones whenever a new model hit the market.

I've had three too, I got my first when I was working for MCI, which stands for Many Changes Instantly, it was basically free and .15 cents a minute. Then we got a Nokia and it was a pre-paid, then we moved to Florida and got new cell phones, we gave the old one to our oldest. I'll probably keep mine forever, I don't use it for anything anyway, I just make calls and play games.

I won't change my old cellphone if i still can use it and i also have another phone. I think if we following the trend of new cellphone, it could harm our pocket. New cellphone launched every month, so how can we change our cellphone every month? In case of an old phone, usually no one want to buy it, so better keep it in our own memorabilia museum. Today that phone is useless anymore, but at the day we bought it, it was a most latest technology on mobile telecommunication. Let say it's a memento. Have a nice day and happy mylotting.
