but now that the democrats are in office it is OPEC's fault. As reported earlier this week by MSNBC Opec is the reason for the recent increase in the cost of gas, however last year this time when gas prices were on the rise, it was all because of the Bush administration. Wow, it is amazing how things change so fast and our media tends to skew the news to how they want us to believe it to be.

OPEC is always to blame for oil prices, but they are rarely ever at fault. It is plain old greed, the oil companies are back at it again, and the American people eat up every word they say about who to blame, and it isn't their fault. Look at the refinnery profits, and you will see why the price of gas is so high, they are making billions of off the refinning of oil. We will be held hostage by big oil companies untill we kick them to the curb, and create alternative energy sources.
I voted for Barack, and I have defended him on here often, but it is time for him to stand up and do something about this. Bush was at fault for the high energy prices last year, but Barack needs to use his power and stop that from ever happening again. But, the American people need to stand up and change their driving habbits, or they are as much to blame as the rest of the usual suspects. If we stop driving so much, then we will use less oil, and you will see the price go down.

mean, last year we were told the supply of oil was low so the price was so high. The problem is that the President of the United States controls the largest stockpile of oil in the world. At anytime he could have release 50 to 100 barrels of oil on the open market and send the price of oil down dramaticly. But, it took a treat from congress to stop Bush from actually filling our stockpile while the price was going through the roof. Our own president was part of the reason why our gas prices were so high. This is why I said that Bush was part of the problem.

It's amazing how things changed, isn't it? Somehow the president is no longer at fault--we've suddenly figured out that it was all OPEC'S doing. That darned OPEC, raising the gas prices on us. Shame on them!

NOt really OPEC... We have our own oil fields in the UNited States... I live in Texas, where it really isn't a problem, Texas is one of the best recovering states, when it goes in bad times, because we can do almost anything by ourselves.. We can make money, make food, make soldiers....

I meant to start this same discussion and never got around to it. People spent years blaming Bush for gas prices every single time they went up a few cents and here we are, gas prices rising fast, and I have yet to hear a single person blame Obama.

This is mainly because Obama is more popular than Bush.. You could hear the whole WORLD shout in support for Obama.. But during Bush's president election stuff, you could hear bad things about him through out the world!

Heck, I didn't even know that gas prices went up so high last year because Bush was letting the oil companies put a stranglehold on the American consumer. I didn't that is, until I read it here on mylot, and how it was because of Obama that they went down. The mylot member who stated this didn't explain why the prices started coming down while Bush was still in office, nor why they are on their way back up again. Still, it's good to know that it's not Obama's fault. Gosh, now that he owns a couple of car companies, you'd think he'd be in favor of low fuel costs. He'll sell more cars that way.
How weird is that? OPEC having an effect on oil prices... Who'd have thought that was possible?

I never blamed any president for the prices of oil. Anyone who did any kind of research knew that it was OPEC. There have been many who have said this all along (democrats, republicans, and independents alike). Sure, some blamed Dubya, but those tended to be the same people who blamed everything on him. Kind of like the people who blamed everything on Clinton. They simply couldn't think for themselves to find the right answer, and placing blame on a president is always the easiest way to go.

Oh, I'm sure some people are still blaming things on Bush. It was always OPEC and actually those speculating on prices to go up and pouring tons of money into oil futures. They really drove the price up. Remember that guy who intentionally paid $100 to be the first to cross that line. He took a bath. I have been wondering if he is still so giddy about his accomplishment. That is also really part of what got us into this economic predicament. With oil prices rising everything else got more expensive, people just stopped buying, couldn't afford it anymore. But hey, it's all Bushes fault. He somehow personally financed all that crap, lol.

I think I'd have to take back myself blaming just Bush himself. Like I said in another post - I think our government is riddled with corruption. And the unfortunate thing is, is that they have ties within companies like the oil companies. So while I still agree that it is the company's fault, I still believe the government has some ties to the problem too.
